I think it looks awesome! It gives the knife so much more character in my opinion. I ordered two DMDCs... would it just be ridiculous of me to do this to one of them?

Of course, if you just do nothing but use them, they will eventually get that way anyway....only "flat".

Cool, I'm gonna send you all my Busse knives. I hope your mailman has a strong back and the ground is firm under your house.
Just kidding about sending you steel, but I really like the look. Nicely done.

I think it will only work well with SR101 although I am getting some dark spots on my DFLE.

I tried to blue my FBM once......NOTHING HAPPENED! As easily as SR101 rusts, it is a natural. I think it would probably work on SR77 but not as fast.

I am working on a patina finish on one of my Rangers right now, giving it a vinegar bath, there was a thread over there about patinas, I will post pics when it is done.

nice sb. they (all the rangers) came out really dark. I kinda wan't to do that to mine when the rest of the finish comes off. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

EMF, I know what you mean, the ones they did over there turned out dark, I am hoping for the same results. I will be posting pics tomorrow along with my new ASH..... which should be delivered then as well. If this patina thing works out well then it is a nice alternative to coated blades although I can't see myself doing it to any of my LE scrapyard blades....

I did a patina on my ranger, I'll have pics soon. It didn't come out very regular or dark, but it totally stopped the rusting and seems pretty durable. I'll report back after i get some use with the patina on

Have you hugged your camp knife today?

Great Looking Mandu Patina! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />
Even the name "Mandu Patina" sounds kinda karmic. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
I like that pattern that seams to have naturally formed on it. That knife does have a lot of character.
