Wow, I feel for the kid. I guess at that age he wouldn't have been strong enough to pry the guy off his mother and hold him down. He did what he had to do. I hope he doesn't get pressed with any charges, it is homicide, but it also is defense. At that age, I would have done the same thing, no other way to get the attacker off. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

if a person is attacking my mother, the lifeline of my life being a 12 year old, i would do or grab whatever i could to get mommy free. i think we all would have done the same thing if a knife were to have been laying around.

It's good to hear that the mother and son are ok. That has to be a tough thing to live with for a 12 year old though. Even if it was in self defense.

+1 for the good guys. I feel for the family though. It will take a lot of time to feel safe again. I don't think you are ever the same person after being a victim of any kind of violent crime, regardless of the outcome.

Taking a life is never easy even under circumstances like this. I feel for the boy and hope his life stays on track and this doesn't turn him numb to the world.

i think its safe to say, this child's life is forever changed... its gotta be traumatic beyond all belief for a 12 year old.

We were discussing this on another site. Hard thing for a kid to go through but certainly better than seeing your Mom murdered in front of you. Hopefully the
publicity will help rather than hurt the family.
