JB - yes I do! Mowing my SUBSTANTIAL yard, cleaning up storm damage, whatever. I even used my DogFather to help my wife dig up some daffodils for transplanting - pictures later tonight or tomorrow.
Jeff - I bet you didn't know that I am Mel Gibson's short stunt double!

How about some Spring time Snake Charming ? That thing poisonous Pit? According to this reptile/amphibian museum I went to in Costa Rica, all snakes with the 2 large scales on top of their head are poisonous. You seem like a sane person and don't look very worried about it so maybe my information is bad. I'd probably leave it alone anyway though My dogs don't have that much sense though and if it went for them I'd have to kill it.

hehe I was also told when I was little you could tell if they were poisonous by they way they swam, either flat or with their head sticking out of the water. I grew up around VA Beach so we had plenty of water moccosins(same as cotton mouth I think) and non-poisonous water snakes too. a few copperheads, and supposedly some rattlesnakes and coral snakes, but I never saw any in 10 years there. Sweet pic Pitman

hahaha... yeah, we've got all kinds of "anti-snake" advice and scare tactics that get thrown around. regardless of one's personal beliefs, let's presume that human evolved with venomous snakes. well, then it would make sense that those with a healthy fear of snakes would live to reproduce, and possibly pass on that healthy fear of snakes. if life really started in africa, this makes a whole lot of good sense... have you ever met a person who was naturally unafraid of snakes?
at any rate, i'm not arguing anything but that there is a TON of misinformation out there about snakes. but you're right, water moccasins are cottonmouths

ahhh yes the classic "is this snake gone kill me?" question I rember it going something like this
-If red touches yellow you are a dead fellow. -But if red touches black you are all right jack.
Coral snakes seam to be very slender and skiny

"red and yellow kill a fellow" works without fail in north america, but not in the tropics or south america...
coral snakes are actually, possibly, the most toxic venomous snake in the states. they have a NASTY neurotoxin (as opposed to hematoxins(?) in rattlers, copperheads, and cottonmouths). to be bit by a coral snake would be horrendous, but they are actually very docile animals and because of their size, would only be able to get their jaws around your pinky, nose, little toes... so they don't pose that great a threat to adults.
nice pix ksjumpmd!
