I would like to thank Jim once again for being my proxy at the Knob Creek/Hotel sale. Folks like him are what makes this forum such a great place !! Tom

That is awesome Tom!

You are going to be buried in INFI! Didn't you just mention last week that you didn't own any?

awesome!

I really thought you had posted recently & mentioned that you didn't own any INFI. I must have just confused myself again...

OOH PK. SARS and SD.

Great Score!

For some reason the SAR reminds me of a finnish Pukko knife. I don't know why. They are completely different in design and shape.

Got my proxy blade from Jim today. Thanks Jim! It really is sweet. It felt a little strange to me at first but it really grew on me after a little fondling. Mine is exactly like PK's. It is almost the same overall length as my DMDC but it is much lighter in the blade and very much heavier in the handle. It does have a much longer cutting edge, but I don't think it will match it in chopping tasks. It is definitely possible though. The swedge is very narrow at the top, but not very long. It also has a longer cutting edge than the BATAC, but of the 3 I think the BATAC would easily out-chop the others 2:1. The handle feels thicker than my mag FBM but it feels nice once you get used to it. They are actually about the same thickness at the swells, but the SAR5 is much thicker between swells.

If anybody has a RMD and SAR5 I'd love to see a side-by-side. I'll try to get some pics up with a DM and BATAC. I'm off to work now so it will have to be Tue or Wed.

Having seen photos of what happens to blades Jerry considers substandard, there is no way these knives will have any weaknesses!

I agree that it is strong enough but I handled one of these and I have to agree with Jerry...not great. But I have heard that a lot of folks like it. I did ask Jerry how long he was on the Blue when he designed it but he did not remember

I'm back from my shopping spree. I met several folks, Barb-B-Q, G19G26, resinguy, and Eric Isaacson among others from the BladeForums crowd. Also, hung out with jforbush and rainwalker for a while. I arrived just before the selling started; when it did, the section of table with CG SNFOs and Hell Razors emptied within seconds -- literally, nothing but bare table left. The NW SAR 5s lasted slightly longer, but within a few minutes, most of them were gone (admittedly, I took more than my fair share), although the last few hung around for almost a couple hours.

There were a few Satin Jacks -- I bought one, not the prettiest of the lot, but an unusual variant. Muddy Satin Jacks were supposed to come with Snakeskin handles, but apparently they ran out of Snakeskin, so one of the batch had Tigerhide (which was designated for LEs) -- that's the one I bought.

They made five SAR 5 color/handle combinations:
1) Olive blade w/ orange/black G10
2) Black blade w/ orange/black G10
3) Black blade w/ green/black G10
4) Sage blade w/ tan Micarta
5) Black blade w/ black Micarta

The crew didn't have any of the Olive SARs at Knob Creek, and they only had eight each of the others. They had a set of Friday boxes and a set of Saturday boxes (so there will still be good stuff tomorrow), but I was told that all of the SARs went out today. Jerry may hate them (I asked if that was just a marketing ploy, and was told that he genuinely does not like them at all), but I think they're OK and they were a terrific bargain. I bought ten of them:
three sage w/ tan Micarta on proxy, with an additional two for me, two black w/ black Micarta, two black w/ orange/black G10 and one black w/ green/black G10.

There were two black (logo-ed) Scrapper 6s, so I grabbed both of them (you can never have too many S6s). Also there were three tan (logo-ed) Yard Hooks -- I only bought one of them. I also bought one more Olive Swamp Warden (because I wanted an olive blade and missed grabbing the single olive w/ black G10 HR Little Mischief). Finally, I picked up a couple reflective lanyards that Eric's oldest daughter makes. Grand total for my purchases was $2410.80 + $156.05 (sales tax) = $2566.85. I'll get some back from the proxies, but still, it's been an expensive day.

jforbush and rainwalker both picked up some good stuff too, but I'll let them tell you about their treasures. Everybody there was great, and it was nice to meet them. If you're going tomorrow and want any SAR 5s, then you better get them from the 411 SARgaza on BladeForums tonight.

Wow you cleaned up...congrats

Dan
