I was thinking of the Urban when I clicked into the thread. I voted DMLE, but agree with the consensus that the small basic handle isn't ideal... especially for a guy with paws like mine.

I like the Urban but it is to rare. My vote brought 6the DMLE back up to the RMD.
The DMLE has the best design with the full flat grind and the best finish.
The LE is a better finish than the DC or Urban because it can be fixed quickly at home with nothing more than some sandpaper and flat backing. I had the CG version and hated it. A knife should be able to cut or it is just a pointy prybar.
I do like the YKCG a touch better than the DMLE although I would feel different if I had big hands and needed the choil. A Thin YKLE would be awesome though.

No problem, Bruce. In some ways it's not really fair to count it anyway because there's so few out there. I just thought it'd be fun to bring it up. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> Thinking of that, I meant to compare my SAR5 side by side with my Mutts, but I got so sidetracked with work after I got back that I forgot. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif" alt="" /> I need to do that...

IMHO, Dan's SYKC Dogfather CG or LE are classics. The Camptramp and Ratmandu are classics. The Dumpster Mutt is great knife, but...its not a classic.

It did complicate things, but many of us think of the ratmandu as a SR version of the DM. I like all the flat ground Mutts better than the original. Interesting. Out of 23 votes, the poor little DMDC hasn't received a single vote. It has the most comfortable handle of all the Mutts. And with a little refinishing, it's easy to turn it into an LE at substantially less cost than the original LE. Isn't anyone going to show it a little love? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> I like the DMDC a lot. I prefer the fatter handle. The flat ground uncoated blade is nice, too, and easy to buff up. My least favorite mutt is the original, much praised DM.
