for all the talk about the S7's, you'd think the hook and guard would be a lot more popular. I've been playing with my battlerat, chopweiler, and yardguard trying to decide if I really need a camp tramp.

Believe it or not, all of the knives you listed are sufficiently different.

The Yard Guard does have a lot in common with the Camp Tramp and I do like my Yard Guard, but I still have to give higher regard to the Camp Tramp. The Camp Tramp has more of the type of function I prefer and I feel the Camp Tramp is a little more versatile. While similar, the differences are noticable.

The thing is, the differences are more noticable in feel and use than in pictures.

On the other hand, I personally feel the current secondary market prices for the Camp Tramp are rediculous. Value is subjective - so, to each his own.

I already have a Camp Tramp and a Yard Guard, but if Scrap Yard made a well designed appropriate thickness S7, S8 or somewhere in between at a good price, I would still buy one. (.... assuming I can get some of my finances back in gear. ).

I'll definitely get the S7-8 no matter what, but I would be happiest with 8" at a max of .25" I can't figure out what it is I like so much more about my battlerat than all the others (including dogfather) but I think the camp tramp will have it too. But I think the guard is the most underrated blade in the ScrapYard lineup.

Now that I have an RMD coming, the Camp Tramp is the only classic that I'm really interested in and still don't have. Now all I have to do is find one for a good price
