are you saying that Dan won't make any of his own handles? That would mean he will eventually have to run out and you'd never see any more Res-c of any kind.

Boney's are back up at BCS.
I already had one each of the G-10s -- it's probably silly, but I just bought a pair of micartas too. Bad Jim!!! Oh well, they're gone again; some may drop as people decide they've grabbed more than they can afford, but I'm done for a while.

Alcohol Tobacco & Firearms should be a convenience store, not a Government Agency.

My G-10 BADs arrived today; I like the black better than the black/red, which wasn't really a surprise. In my experience, G-10 always looks lighter-colored in bright natural light or flash photography -- the black/red looked almost burgundy in Skunk's pictures, but in person, it looks kinda like someone took a red crayon to a black-handled BAD. It's not terrible, but if I'd have seen them in person, I'd have bought two black versions rather than one of each. It may grow on me; if not, I expect I could trading up with little difficulty considering how fast BADs sold out.
I was able to snag a couple micartas the second time they made an appearance at the BCS. I'm sure I'll like them too; BADs may be a bit thinner than the AD, but they're more substantial than I expected -- they're stiff and sturdy / rough and ready.

I really like the new BADs. I've always been partial to the AD over the GW. I like both the handle and the blade shape better. The micarta BAD seems appreciably lighter in the hand versus the more recent miligaanza ADs. These are keepers.

Do you think a stainless 1/8 SS4 might be in our future???? I don't know if we'll see anymore with mudder handles. I like them, though. A stainless SS4 would be a very useful knife. The mudder handle fits my hand well. Plus One on the SS4's!!! I really like those mudder handles too!!!

I got the micarta BADs today (along with a bit o' Skunk junk [a marble and a bell]) and my federal tax refund (considering that I didn't file until 4/14, that's a pretty good turnaround time). I like the the micarta handles -- they're nice and dark, not that fuzzy light stuff. All things considered, I'm very happy with the BADs, more so with the micarta-handled ones because they were a better value, but the G-10s are quite nice too. I wouldn't be surprised if the folks going to Blade get another round of BADs -- they weren't particularly well marketed, but still sold out almost immediately. I asked a question on the skinny ASH thread that went unanswered, so I'll try here too: I don't remember nearly as much new stuff at the company store this close to Blade last year; does it seem unusual to anyone else? I wonder if Jerry is market testing with the Skinny ASH and Boney AD releases to see what folks want most. I don't want to see the market flooded, but I think the BADs are "Field of Dreams" material.

I received my BAD today too.. I like it although I think I prefer my Busse's thick. It is very sharp though! ![[Linked Image from farm4.static.flickr.com]](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3191/2476792287_054256df8e_b.jpg)

If you think they are such great knives, why do you care if the market is flooded? Forgive me for saying, but that sounds like a selfish perspective. I'm a collector at heart, and for better or worse, the way that I justify paying Busse Combat prices is to consider them an investment. Except for a pair of folders, I don't carry my knives, I store them. So, at some level, because I am concerned that my knives at least hold their value (I'd even prefer that they appreciate), I am selfish. While I'd like to see some more BADs made available for the sake of the community, I don't want the price suppressed in the secondary market -- I try not to be greedy, even if I am a bit selfish. On a more philosophical level reflecting my own cynical outlook on life, I believe that human behavior is almost exclusively based on fear and selfishness. Even those who engage in selfless acts do so because they value the emotional rewards they derive more than what they give up, or in some cases, they may regard charitable acts as an investment in securing future (even after-life) rewards. Humans are, by nature, motivated largely by fear; fear of rejection, fear of privation, fear of pain -- the actions that people take to avoid their fears are, more often than not, selfish. What's good for me and mine is good, what's bad for me and mine is bad. We wrap ourselves within a mantle of civilization, but at heart we're just beasts huddled in the darkness and hoping to see another sunrise.
