So Cloak last weekend invited my up to his Gorge house for the... God knows how many times I've been up there. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Awesome time we had. This is day one.

For day one we decided to go down to Delicourt Hill and move up along the creek.

Here's a pic of Delicourt.

Down the valley and almost at Delicourt facing away.

Ahhh... the Sun is high above us.

Here's a pic of the creek.

Pulled back a little.

Cloak also had his camera and decided to take some pics.

This is from the other side of the creek looking back at the path we took down.

I took this one.

We found a big pile of fatwood.

Here's me prying off a piece of the rotten bark. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> GOOD STUFF!!!!

We started walking along the other side of the creek but got bored and ultimately decided to do some rock jumping.

Here's one where we are sitting on a rock in the middle of the stream.

And another. It's so beautiful out here.

Cloak also had some great shots of the river.

And knife content. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Here's the two of us. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

On our way back we encountered a rattlesnake. Cloak just barely got a pic of it. It was pretty decently sized.

It, oddly enough, didn't rattle at us. It slithered right behind Cloak and into the rock. It was good thing that we didn't agitate it. Pretty scary considering Cloaks foot was a mere centimeter away from the snake.

We also found a nice pile of fatwood. Here's me, just using Cloak's flint striker and plain fat wood to start a fire. We didn't use anything else, no matches, no tinder, no dry grass. Just fatwood and flint. It was good.

Cloak took all these pics

This stuff is really awesome. Notice the steam that is coming from the ashes. Coolest thing I've ever seen. This stuff smells real nice and burns real well.

As I said, we found a big pile of this stuff so when next morning came we set off to get some more fatwood. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Great stuff! You two look like you had a great time. Makes me wish I was young again. Thanks for the pics. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Thanks for posting up the pics, Sharp.

As for the rattlesnake, i used the zoom function so I was really a safe distance away, i promise.

Knives taken by me:
Passaround of Sharp's Byrd Meadowlark
ZT0200
Ranger RD7/Afghan Custom hybrid
RMD
Leatherman Surge

Not sure exactly what sharp had, I think it was

Sage/tan FFBM
RMD
Endura4 full serrated
Leatherman Charge
Blackjack Grunt
SOCOM Elite (?)

Good times, we harvested SO SO much fatwood the next day though, I'm assuming sharp will post pics of that as well

Have you hugged your camp knife today?

Naw, I didn't take the SOCOM.

You got most of it right. I took my Benchmade Emerson instead of the SOCOM. That thing was sitting in my Pelican case. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Guys, wait a little longer. I've got pics from Day Two coming up. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Great pictures. Looking forward to the rest. I'm starting to get my buddy into knives so I might have someone to roam around with.

What kind of thigh rigs are you guys using?

Okay.

Day 2.

RISE AND SHINE!!!

It was a beautiful morning and I had to take some pictures from Cloak's Gorge House.

Here's the river.

[Linked Image from i235.photobucket.com]

We're hoping sometime during the summer, when things warm up a bit more, we can cross the river and hike up the mountain side. I can't wait for that.

Anyways, we hiked back to the location where we found the stump.

On the way I lost my Grunt. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> It's not to bad considering it was only 20 bucks. It sucks though because I only had it for a couple of weeks. I'll just have to order another one. Hopefully they aren't sold out.

On the other side of the creek again. Here's a beautiful pic of the base of Delicourt.

[Linked Image from i235.photobucket.com]

There was just a large piece pure fatwood that Cloak decided to chop off. After that I decided to baton it in half.

[Linked Image from i235.photobucket.com]

After that we just got various pieces of fat wood.

Here's Cloak trying to destroy my FBM by pounding it into some fatwood. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> Course he was trying to get some more of that fat wood. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> I'm just batoning the wood that I just batoned.

[Linked Image from i235.photobucket.com]

This is a really sweet pic.

[Linked Image from i235.photobucket.com]

Here's us just chilling. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

[Linked Image from i235.photobucket.com]

Here's a picture of area that Cloak chopped off. It's fatwood alright. That dark spot is pure amber

[Linked Image from i235.photobucket.com]

Close up

[Linked Image from i235.photobucket.com]

We gathered a good amount, grabbed a small piece, and went to the river to test it out. Cloak did the fire starting this time. I was able to take a really sweet pic of him striking the flint. SPARKS!!

After that we went back to Cloak's Gorge house and packed to leave.

It was another well spent weekend at the Gorge. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Thanks Cloak, for inviting me up so many times. I really appreciate it. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

It's always fun going there.

Looks like you had a good time.
I'm going to do a few hikes and light weight overnighters when my ash gets here.

You guys may want to consider geting sawyer extractors when you go hiking, I carry one in my main pack because cotton mouths are becoming a problem here.

i imagine Sharp is doing homework, as i should be. They're OD green cotton twill cargo pants. I have the same ones, they work nicely and aren't scary to sheeple if you should run into them. Not a problem in this case because we're miles from everything, but useful in general. On top is some manner of NIKE dry-fit top. I'm wearing mountain hardwear hiking pants, a top by Columbia sportswear, and a Nike dry-fit compression-style top underneath

L4D,

They are OD Propper. Cloak has a pair in gun metal grey. Really good pants for the money. I got mine at Andy and Bax for 35 dollars.

I'm sure you probably know about the company Propper.
