Easy mistake. I just barely started being able to remember it myself and I've had these for a while. The designations are pretty confusing.

Good to know. I can talk about accuracy and technical data all day but I haven't shot anything other than paper with them.
Thought about getting back into hunting and giving coyotes a try. Lord knows we have enough out here. Might have to try 5.7 on them.

Hmm, i wasn't aware that 5-7's were available to civilians? Thats cool that they are, I've always had a soft spot for that particular hand-gun
Mac, why was you uncle killing coyotes? Much less a pack of them?

Have you hugged your camp knife today?

I was just about to ask that, Cloak.
Though, as cool was the FiveseveN is, many will say that the caliber is rather weak for a pistol. While penetration is superb, stopping power is sub par.

I, however, still really like the design and would buy one if I could.

It is what it is. I've heard everything from "no better than a .22", to "on the same level as a .223." Reality is it falls somewhere in between.
For me its got a cool factor and I will say they are super fun to shoot. VERY accurate, almost no recoil, and a big fireball out the muzzle.

The Secret Service does use the round in the P90, full auto version of the PS90. They actually have a special black reticle (as opposed to white) sight so it will show up against the vast number of white buildings in DC.

Would I recomend this to the average Joe looking for a carry gun? No. Its bordering on the exotic. The weapons are expensive (my M4 cost a hell of a lot more than my PS90 when I finished it though), ammo isn't as easy to get as other cal, and there's not a lot of production holsters out there.

Have to remember stopping power isn't everything. I'm a lot better shot and can throw lead down range a lot quicker with a 5.7 than my G20.

Fun gun. By the way I traded a knife for the PS90. Not a bad deal.

All this firearm lingo is confusing me!
I'm starting to get into handguns and rifles. Trying to do research on forums like ar15.com and calguns.net to see what's good and legal, but I'm still lost at all the different calibers and such.

Looking into getting/building a AR that shoots 22lr because they're cheap. Is 22lr, .22, and .223 the same thing??

After that, I'd like to get a handgun from Sig Sauer (P226) or something similar from Glock and H&K.

I still don't know much about firearms yet, but trying to learn everyday. After finals I'll look more into it, but right now I love knives and don't think I could afford a nice AR or handgun.

Sorry, I love the .40 cal. Every round you carry is a compromise of some sorts. Pick the one that fits you best. As far as the stopping power of the .40 vs .45 the debate rages on. Ask border patrol (INS) about the stopping power of a .40 cal. Real life experience. It puts them down. Placement always counts of course, even with hand grendades.

.40 is a great caliber, my first serious handgun was a first gen G23. I was tempted to buy a G22 with a coyote frame the other day.
Your right about picking the one that fits you best. They make different calibers for a reason.

Noticed your located in Cali. You can do an AR build there but with all the laws there it would be an AR only in name. Move a state over to AZ for all the fun . .22 and .223 are VERY different. Best way to learn about this stuff is doing what you are doing. Reading and asking questions.

I cant help but jump into this one. I have owned a FiveseveN for almost 2 years and have tested it heavily. When I first bought it I knew very little about it other than it fired a 28gr bullet that goes 2100 fps and is designed to tumble shortly after impact. I heard all the hype and had to put it to the test myself. My testing along with hundreds of others (yes I said hundreds, check out fivesvenforum.com) have confirmed the validity and stopping power of this round. When the ps-90 or 57 are loaded with SS195, SS192 or SS190 it does exactly what is says it does. The above projectiles are over 1" tall and tumble end over end, side over side, normally creating at least a 1" diameter hole for roughly 8-14" inches of penetration. In other words, yes it is very lethal. read my post (same screen name) post # 8 and you will see what I mean. http://fivesevenforum.net/showthread.php?t=11072 Nice knife by the way!
