I was thinking of the satin versus coating question when I had an epiphany.
While I have come to prefer the satin blades there is a large contingent of people who prefer the coating and one of the primary reasons is they are less expansive.
I also think new buyers are much more likely to buy the coated models.
I had an idea that had been suggested for some Busse knives that instead of coating or a satin finish(or DC) the knives could simply be left as is.
This would be cheaper than either and would certainly fit with the Yards image.
I think I nailed the name with Scrapyard RAW! ,the bare finish with the black resC handle would look great.
I have a photo of someone's stripped DFCG which should give you an idea.

The idea that Busse had played with was supposed to be like their testing blades which have a sharp convex edge and no finish. I don't think anything happened with that but I would love to know?
Another advantage would be for those of us who like to mod our knives. It would save striping the coating at least.
This stripped ,polished and convex edged Rat is a fantastically done modding project.

So what do you think about the idea of Scrapyard Raw?
