Canoe SailThis 5 meter spritsail rig makes a canoe go really fast. It's easy to build, easy to control, easy to put up and take down. It tolerated gusts well and can be tuned for really light winds also. I use an aluminum sign as a leeboard and steer with a paddle. ![[Linked Image from blog.makezine.com]](http://blog.makezine.com/canoesail.jpg)

No, I just saw it last night and thought it looked interesting. Sure beats using a paddle.

Itīs worth a try =) feel like the canoe will tip over easy without a keel or what you call it over there

I figured if I tried it I'd add outriggers to it too.

I've got a 10 foot canoe, that would be an interesting project to try some time. I think outriggers would be a must.

How funny. My 5 year anniversary is coming this September and I want to get a canoe from my wife. This is great!

That looks interesting. My only concern is that it would make the canoe easier to tip, and if it tips, harder to turn back over.

Invest in a kayak. The paddling is so much easier than a canoe the sail will not even be a concern. It looks nice for open water I wonder how it would fold up and handle a portage. I have two kayaks. I will not go back to a canoe.
