Saw a Yardhook for sale pretty cheap in Sweden. Half the price I paid for my DFLE

The problem is the size. why a knife in that size? Big for carving and small for chopping.

Give me a reason to buy it <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Because it rocks. The yardhook is one of my favorites.
It is a good survival knife; however, the recurve would make it a good fighter, as well.
Also, it is unique. No one else makes a knife that looks quite like it.

Personally, I prefer the S6 or a DF, but the YH is as good as any 7" blade out there. The main thing is, you can open beer bottles with it (after slight modifications) and it is just a wicked recurve.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Come around tomorrow, I am posting a epic thread.

As macgregor said... it's a great all-in-one blade... just the right size to use for almost everything, and the hook looks like a great bottle opener. I definitely want a 7" SR-77 bottle opener!

It won't be as good a chopper as your Dog Father, but it's not bad -- compared to most "normal" knives, it's very good. You'll probably want to grind out the hook just a little to make it suitable for use as a bottle opener. The blade is 3 inches shorter than a DF, making it more portable. The Yard Hook wasn't my favorite design (as others have said, it's a multi-purpose compromise rather than a specialized blade, but it's good and I'd imagine the secondary market for Scrap Yard knives in Sweden is limited. The DFLE is a flagship product; I don't really think you'll like the Yard Hook better, but I do believe you'll like it.

You'd have probably gotten more input, except that the Blade knife show was this weekend, and a lot of the crew are on pilgrimage to Atlanta, GA.

As long as you can get it at a reasonable price. It's a good all around value and makes a great camp knife. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Being able to Mod the hook so that you can open your favorite bottle of brew doesn't hurt either. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Simon you NEVER need to ask WHY do you need a Scrap Yard Knife.

Just buy it and the uses will come. The blade will NEVER fail you,and that is the most important reason why.

Follow your heart and buy The Hook, you will not regret it.

Peace.

Some people just never learn.
