Alright, I have to admit, with the DMDC being my first SY knife, I was just a little dissapointed with the sharpness and overall deisgn of the knife.

But,

Today I received my first Dog Father and all I can say is WOW! It is Combat Grade and hair popping sharp. Can't wait to take it into the field this weekend for a campout. No safe queens for me!

Right on Dan! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/footinmouth.gif" alt="" />

Way I see it, the edge they put on isnt a user edge. I figure they intend for you to put your own edge on the way you want it. They just grind it down some to get you started. I could be wrong, but my DMDC was also pretty weak on the edge department. But it took an edge very well, and holds it.

edges on scrapyards are either hit or miss....
some come really good/decent and some (I hear) not so good.
it just depends, my DFLE came with a shaving sharp edge an my YKCG came almost shaving sharp.

sr77 is VERY easy to sharpen and holds a good edge too.

Nice to hear that about the YKCG, hopefully mine is like that. It's suppose to be new, never used in the cardboard sleeve.

Having had at least one knife from each of the Bussekin companies sadly the lack of ANY cutting edge out of the box is a standard feature.. A cheap kitchen knife can come razor sharp but never a Busse.. Odd!

(The S6 is still the best knife in the world though!) <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

my DM original came shovel sharp however the ykcg came sharp.
I like the knives and don't mind getting the edge I want with a little effort.

It's been hit or miss for me with the Bussekin and from several company's as well. There are only a couple company's where every knife I have recieved come what I would call sharp right out of the box.

Spyderco and Bark River are the only two companies where I have trouble maintaining an edge as sharp as it came from the factory. Only a few Bussekin knives have come sharp. Oddly, the knives from the Yard are the most consistent of all three Busse companies though.

I guess I can't really say much,

However, the two Busse Kin knives that I bought both came really hair popping sharp. The RMD even had a slight mirror polish on the edge, it was really prominent at the very edge of the edge.

My FBM came with a slight shoulder rolled to the left. But even then, it would easily shave.

I must have some kind of mutant baboon arm hair or something because I've never had a knife that would easily shave arm hair, including my crazy sharp spydercos so I know it isn't the edges.

I personally never could understand why people want them to come so sharp, I can do it myself; having, collecting, using knives you should be able too or learn that yourself.

I like the way BusseKin sends them out, and like stated they sharpen nice and keep their edge very nice.
