It sounds like you ought to look at RatManDus -- SR-101 instead of SR-77, but the blade profile is very close, and they have comfortable Micarta or G-10 handles. A lot of folks who love their DMs still have some left over for their RMDs.

Macgregor, were there any pictures of this camp tramp on any of the forums? I have to admit, for a while I have wondered how hard it would be to rehandle a Yard knife. I did a Cold Steel SRK as an experiment a while back, but I keep wanting to try rehandling another knife! I've got a SOG Seal 2000 that I took the handle off of, but I never got around to putting anything back on it. I really want to give it a try a good non-stainless knife like my Yard Guard or DM.

If something like the DM were made with scales it would be done by the Swamp or Busse Combat. While not quite the same, the Ratmandu is close, and it is a very fine knife.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Somebody is bound to Mod a Mutt or other Scrapper eventually with micarta or something, and I look forward to seeing that. I can't really imagine a production model Micarta Scrapper though, but who knows what the future holds.

I'd much rather go the other direction and get something in INFI or SR-101 with Res-C

I agree with Darkather. Maybe something larger than the SS4, around the Bog Dog, with plain black Mudder Handles.

I don't see why you want to give up the comfortableness of the Res-C.

Though the guy at SRCK does really good mods.
