why are so many not seeing the; "READ THIS" info thread??? it's all in there?

As correct as that answer is, it's only half the poster's problem!

Fact is there has been a long running issue with emailing the Scrap Yard.

I sent an email regarding establishing my bona fides regarding been an intending first time purchaser of a Scrap Yard product (hopefully the Mud Puppy) on May 12. Three days later and failing to get any response I again emailed 'sales'. May 20th and still no response so this time I emailed to 'sales', 'patti' and also 'dan' again no reply.

On May 22, ten days after my first email, I decided to try a pm to Patti in the hope that would get an answer ... a bold step but one brought about by the frustration of knowing that the Scrap Yard Knife Company cares about its products and the folk who purchase them!

I received a reply from Patti to the pm on May 30 which said in part "Thanks for PM-ing me. I am finding out that some are having problems getting through."

Although I do not yet own one, I believe that Scrap Yard knives are amongst the best available and well worth the effort and wait to obtain one directly from the company. As I want a few other SC knives I guess will have to chance the secondary mark-up (market ) sooner or later.

I posted in another thread that I tried sending emails to both sales@scrapyardknives.com and to patti@scrapyardknives.com on Friday, but received bounce notices (for <sales@scrapyardknives.com>):
<t.busse@sbcglobal.net>:
207.115.21.22 does not like recipient.
Remote host said: 553 5.3.0 <t.busse@sbcglobal.net>... Addressee unknown, relay=[64.202.189.176]
Giving up on 207.115.21.22.

and (for <patti@scrapyardknives.com>):
<t.busse@sbcglobal.net>:
207.115.20.23 does not like recipient.

I'm not an expert, but it appears that they may have an invalid email address alias configured.

As to how one goes about buying a Busse Knife, I suspect that the READ THIS! Rules & SY Info (Updated: 08-04-23) title doesn't grab a new person's attention as well as something like "How to buy a knife and to avoid getting into trouble" might -- maybe we should have a "Name the Sticky" contest .

Here are links to a couple recent threads that I saw and posted to, but I've seen several others as well; it certainly seems that more new folks than usual are seeking to buy their first Scrap Yard knife:

I can understand what you guys are saying, going through, honest! It took me 4 months to get my first SYK, watching the forum for news, sending emails. I really came close to that "Grrr" thread! At that time their was no "Read This" thread, it would have helped me.

I understand now these knives are Very popular and desired, they are in big demand because of the Quality and Busse Reputation, then add to that the Scrapyard Price. It's not like any other place, getting a knife, for good or bad.

Hi All, Thanks for enlightening me! I thought that either the email system had gone down for the order system . I actually though that the knives in the shop were in stock ~ now i understand a little better.
Look forward to one day owning a SYK ; ))

All us old timers know all the gnawing frustration is worth it!

Perhaps the "Our Knives" section of the site should be labelled as an archive to avoid confusion? It kind of got me too when I started at the Swamp- but Eric was quick to reply to an email for advice..

Secondly, Private Klink is right on the money, great bunch of lads here.
I've haven't been here a week & I feel most welcomed by all. PK & Sharp have giving me great advice which is a real plus for a knife-rookie like me.

Welcome...

I bought my Yard Guard off a guy on a well-known gun forum. I've seen Scrapyard knives on Ebay many times as well. Basically, you'll just need to be on the lookout in various places and buy one when you see it.

Awesome responses guys thanks a bunch. I was in a hurry as I have a 2 week camping trip I am headed on in a month to the Boundary Waters. Today I did pick up a Gerber LMF II for the time being. The S6 is of course begging me to seek her out, and I will. And when I can get some extra cash, the almighty, FBM is waiting for me as well.

I received a few PM's from you kind folks about ways to obtain a S6 and I will look into them. Thank you guys again for the warm welcome!.
