I do like the nylon sheaths too. I actually have a Spec Op that came with my RAT 5 and the DM fits in it ok.

Here they are with my RAT5. Both sheaths are my own feeble attempts.

I am a leather guy but those are some nice looking sheaths you made there. I wouldn't call them feeble!

I prefer leather, but kydex does have it's place.

kydex for smaller blades. leather and nylon for the large. leather for pretty knives of any size, too.

Thanks for the comments. The black was my first kydex project and the Concealex carbon fiber I did last night. I dont have any fancy equipment so I use our oven and a homemade press I made from 2 x 6s and camping foam from Wally World. Came out pretty good but not perfect like Rainwalkers stuff.

One problem I noticed with the sheath for the DM is that the sheath is really tight and seems to be wearing the black coating ever so slightly. Not a big deal just something I noticed. I have another one just out of the oven cooling right now except this time I used a couple of layers of blue painters tape on the blade to make the opening a hair wider. I'll report on how that works out.

J33,
Yeah I get a good laugh out of it. I use another one on the gun forums I am on where its Bobs head on Jack Bauer's body holding a Sig pistol. Pretty funy stuff. Bob and his fro was the shizz.

I like kydex.

It's a lot more versatile.

I use a tec-lok and some cord and have around 20 different CC option with open carry options too.

Me too.
It's easier to wash, and it have no fear of rain and dirt.
Many different carry options.
No buttons to lock and unlock, just put the knife in and out.
And... not less important, in takes just a few dollars and 40 minutes to make one !!

So that's Kydex, I thought it was plastic. I like it, but I think I would rather have leather. It just might be because of the look/style of it that does not appeal to me right now. Great retention on the RC-3 though.

Leather looks nicer but I prefer kydex for my hard-use-knives
