After looking at some different posts on the various forums I have decided I need an SS4. What do you guys that have them think of them? Are they hard to find on the secondary market? It would satisfy my needs until I can get a MPLE.

The mudder handles, possibly the greatest handle in the world. INFI steel, possibly the most well rounded steel in the world.

Well, hate to break it too you but Scrapyard INFI is different from Busse INFI. They have to completely different HT which bring different properties.

Though, I doubt you'll notice the difference under normal use.

I'd suggest you try one out. I'm not a big fan of the SS4 because the blade is so small. I wouldn't have too much use for it.

I do want a Bog Dog really badly. I think one of those would be a great Bushcraft knife. Good sized blades with Mudders.

Most of my needs are satisfied with a 4 or 5 inch blade. If I want to chop down a tree I will use an axe or a saw.

I agree, and most of the time you can use a 4-5 inch knife to baton through a tree.

Mu normal bushcraft knife is usually a Buck 119 or 120. Although I believe my new DMDC will serve the purpose well.

The DMDC should be excellent once you get a nice edge on it.

I might send it to Mike Stewart at Bark River and have him put a convex edge on it

I think I need to find one too, I picked up a Meaner and it would be awesome with the thicker handles. And different heat treat? I must look into this.

I just saw one at BF for sale, it is IMO Scrapyards finest blade. It's INFI for goodness sake! A perfect, balanced, great in hand EDC.
