actually vic, it would've been cool (or maybe we can do this next time) if some people sent you the knives you wanted to test (it seems you have all of the ones you need now though) and you could've put your edge on them and tested them, and sent them back.

so you could keep your knife budget healthy, people would get some nice edges on thier knives and we would get some awesome reviews!!

That's a cool idea, but are people willing to give up their knive, knowing that something could happen to it. I guess it's warranty is solid though, Bussekin and all.

This is ridiculous. Four pages of just talking about a test that hasn't even happend yet. People will have to read through all this opinion and speculation just to get to the actual test. It's like the elections! Maybe I should post the actual test, which I hope will be next week, in another thread.

That is an option I've considered.

HD, now you need an original Ratweiler to compare too.

Sorry, Andy. My chopper budget is blown. The Chopweiler will have to do.

No prob. I have both, so I'll have to do a test sometime...

I would think that the HookGuard or YG would outchop the CampTramp because of the forward weight. The recurve is also better for slicing through thick hardwood branches in one swing because if you hit at the start of the curve it will bite much more than a straight edge. That is why katanas(or any straight blade) have to be pulled back as you swing so they will bite.

Try cutting a carrot with a kitchen knife? If you just push straight down it does not cut nearly as well as when you slice with the blade. If you have a recurve the shape of the blade does that but you have to start at the correct part of the edge.

I would like to see s Sarsquatch(INFI) ,HookGuard(S7) ,CampTramp(SR101) comp where we do more than just chopping? Maybe a few cutting comp style tests as well?

According to RN, the Camp Tramp chops much better than the YG. So I will not include the YG/YH in this test. I may compare the CT to them in another comparison.
