My golok came in today. Scary sharp big butter knife! Has a good feel to it. I like the handle. Needs a penetrator point really bad. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" /> A penetrator point? You’re going to use it as a shovel maybe? Or a big mortis chisel? Oh, I get it! It’s so the butter doesn’t get away from you. Die, cholesterol-ridden churn scum! Die!

Those new Barkie goloks look beautiful! I'm not sure I could go cheerfully hacking and slashing away with a blade that expensive, instead of my good old dirt cheap Tram'..
But as sharp functional art- ooooh yes, VERY nice!

I'm not sure that my Golok is a keeper for me.
Pros: 1. The butter knife shape gives you an extra few inches of brush clearing capability. 2. Nice hybrid between a chopper (Battle Rat/Dogfather) and a brush clearing tool (machete). 3. Nice heft 4. Super sharp zero edge convex grind 5. Perfect fit and finish 6. Sheeple friendly shape/look. This is a very non-threatening design.
Cons: 1. The slippery handle that is also on the thin side, plenty long but not a lot to grip to in the middle. Pair that handle design/texture with the super sharp blade and I'm not sure I want to be bush whacking... might lose a finger.
The Con here is pretty big for me. I think that I might try to trade this in while it is still brand new for a very nice machete, maybe the new BRKT custom machete, to pair with my user Battle Rat. If I didn't already have a Dogfather type blade that I loved the Golok would be very appealing if I wrapped the handle with racquet tape.
Does anyone have any experience with that new BRKT machete?

Voxhog that BRKT machete is just a shortened, convex ground, micarta handled Ontario military machete.. Why spend the money?? What's the Ontario go for in the States $20?
