How are you men sharpening your knives out in the field?

Just bought a Byrd Duckfoot. Not bad, just used the flat surface like a stone on my LE. Not popping hairs but pretty good for some free-hand sharpening.

Thinking I need a DMT "Diafold Double Sided Diamond Knife Sharpener" now. They look better.
"Dual purpose with compact convenience, the Double Sided Diafold Sharpener offers two 4" x 1" Diamond Whetstone surfaces in one lightweight, portable sharpener. Multi-use on blades, kitchen knives, specialty and garden tools, etc. Fine diamond (25 micron / 600 mesh) for a razor sharp edge. Coarse diamond (45 micron / 325) to quickly restore a neglected edge".

What do you think. Any here have one?

PS-Not interested in angle sharpening devices with rods, guides etc as I don't have the time out bush, nor do I have the patience. Plus I don't really care if I have a super-sharp blade. It's just not needed for my needs. Just as long as it cuts meat without too much effort & the odd piece of timber for the fire I'm happy

Those folding diamond sharpeners work great. They are light and compact and will sharpen any steel. I have a Buck one around here somewhere but they are all made by DMT. Perfect for field sharpening. I have actually been wanting to get some DMT bench stones I like them so much.

I have a bunch It just depends on what I grab and where I'm going.
These are the ones I mainly rotate between:

DMT double sided butterfly stones fine to coarse
Spyderco medium grit 3" ceramic stick
Arkansas medium pocket stone

At home:

sharpmaker
Medium-Fine Arkansas stones
Japanese Water stones
Mill Bastard file

JYD#14 Do you need one, of course you do it's a knife and you like knives.....

I keep those butterfly sharpeners in my pack, and in my car. But just for luck I always carry a DMT diamond card in my wallet. It’s a metal plate, the size of a credit card, with one face impregnated with diamonds. I’ve occasionally gotten stuck on some job that dulled the knives I was working with, when I didn’t have the time to go get my proper sharpening tools. Fine. Out comes the wallet card, and I can restore an adequate working edge in a jiffy.

I have a small diamond stone thing (sounds a similar thing to Implumes) and I use Lansky ceramic medium grade rods stored in a cute pine box/rod holder. It will make hair shaving sharp edges (just about..)

I like the DMT Dia-Fold sharpeners myself! Of course, for just "touching up" a blade I have some soft stones and a strop w/compound.

Recomend one that fits in the pocket of my spec-ops survival sheath and is double sided with two grits.
