WOW!!!
This sounds like another much better opportunity is lurking around the corner and they are just helping you get ready for that transition to a better paying job with more security and people like YOU who genuinely care about making a difference in teaching!
Three Cheers to your new opportunity Jerry! My family and I will be praying that it reveals itself to you soon so that you may relax and enjoy the transition into a better and more stable job!
It's going to be wonderful Jerry to be working with others who care like you do! I'm very excited for you!And like I said we will be praying for a fast resolution for you. I hate stress as well, but sometimes it seems that we must create that atmosphere of stress until the plan is revealed so that we can finally relax.
I remember a Christmas past when I was going to be homeless for Christmas with my family in the cold. Living on a 5 acre farm in the country where I can shoot guns in my backyard and revel in the beauty of expansive gardens on the property it's hard for me to remember that stress that I created.
God has a great plan for you Jerry and I can't wait to hear how glorious it unfolds when it does! I am certain this will open the door that you so richly deserve my friend. Enjoy your reward.
Peace.
Dave

Best wishes, Jerry. Like Tom said, seniority can be one drawback to working for the system. I've seen the same thing happen here. I hope your able to use the opportunity to find something where you will be better paid and more appreciated. Sometimes what seems like a unfortunate situation, can actually turn out to be a good thing. You may look back on this a few months from now and say, boy I'm glad they did that. I hope so anyway.

That sucks Jerry.
The one thing I have learned after spending time in Corporate America (never been gubment employee) is that doing your job well does not equate to success. I have been through 7 or 8 rounds of layoffs in as many years and it's not something that's fun to deal with. 2 jobs ago my company would announce layoffs 3 to 6 months in advance which caused chaos and stress that was just not right. Especially for us single family income folks.
The one thing I do know is there there are company's and managers that do have their heads out of their butts and do appreciate someone who is good at what they do. These opportunities are few and far between it seems as Corporate America continues to screw the common worker, but they do exist and staying positive is key.
I wish you the best and stay positive. Something good will come out of this, it usually does.

I'm really sorry your going through this bro. You've talked about it before (a little) and I gathered you were a dedicated, motivated asset to the system, helping people out who really needed it, you've done it here!
What can you do right! You'll move on, and be an asset and a good thing somewhere else, anyplace, any position/job would be lucky to have you Jer.
Lets start our (your) own big house bro! (bad women of course) you could be number one, me and the rest of the dawgs will be number two's (get the pun!) and we'll do some world shaking!

Jerrwhy, that sucks, and I hope for the best of luck.
I was talking to my professor from summer school with a couple other guys and they were complaining to him how some of the finance professors are BS and how it's time for some new professors to come in. My professor said that's pretty much impossible unless they get caught having sex in class with the dean as a witness or selling drugs to students. Just because they are tenure shouldn't mean anything.

It blows that your talents are being taken away from people who need and appreciate them. There are other people waiting to benefit from your knowledge and experience and I hope you enjoy your next endevour.

I had the "Talk" with my boys this morning. Needless to say it was quite intense and chaotic at best. After my announcement I basically had to counsel each of my students individually on why they shouldn't quit and that they should continue to get their education despite my being laid off. Needless to say I'm spent.
I have a different relationship with my inmates than others at the prison. I treat them like students and human beings with decency and respect. They respond quite positively to that. However, they were ready to "shank the man" for me. While I was quite flattered, I let them know that their attitudes would only defeat them in the end.
July 7th is my release date. So I'm trying to decided what to do next. After almost 7 years of working with troubled youth and adults I am actually a little releaved to be laid off. I was beginning to get a little burned out. The average burn out rate for those working in my particular field is 18 months, so I lasted much longer than the average.
I'm thinking of getting a "normal person" job where I'll be dealing with people who are a little more socially responsible. Right now I'm thinking of going back to school and becomming a nurse. Ultimately I wouldn't mind becomming a flight nurse. I need high stimulation and can be somewhat intense, so I need a job tomatch that. However, nothing is set in stone right now.
Many thanks for the warm wishes. It means a lot even if I haven't been participating on the board as much as I use to. I still lurk every day though.
Peace Jerry

When I lost my job e few years back I was a bit sad loosing all of the work I had poured my life into, I didnt realize at the time that it would lead to bigger better things...... Now I own my own compant, I employ 8 people and I provide even more for my family and I am able to spend more time with them.
