Seriously though if I had to pick one over the other, I'd pick the Dog Father.

I'd vote for the DF as well.

I'd definitely get the battle rat because they are a lot harder to find and they won't be making any more. you can get a DFCG any time.

DK: good point.
what if he wants performance though?
what if being rare doesn't matter?

for a pure chopper (the battle rat is lgihter and probably good at machette work too) I would go DFCG.

To me, the DF is the one to get. Or both. Once you start down the Busse Knife Group road it's hard to stop. It's a disease. I wasn't going to get any more of the Busse Combat models, content with Swamp Rats and Scrappers. Soon I'll have two Busse Sarsquatches. It never ends. Welcome to the fun.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

For a big chopper, SR-77's toughness would be ideal. If you need to do light work, I would say that neither knife would really be a great tool to use. If you're slashing vegetation and limbing trees, something like Ontario's RTAK-II would be ideal, if not a regular machete.

Have you hugged your camp knife today?

My RTAKs used to be my favorite bowies for just that reason, I could slash vegetation with them. Then came the DFLE. It can chop and slash. But the DF CG is a fine chopper.
