As you may know, I was one of the unfortunates who ordered and paid for the first run of DMDC's but was not delivered a knife. After almost four months of anticipation, it finally arrived!

No, I'm not crazy, I know that is not a DMDC. Dan was extremely generous and allowed me to switch my order at the last minute and shipped me a Bird Dog LE #63. I have to extend a HUGE thank-you to Dan and Patti for making this happen. The Scrap Yard hat was a nice touch too Can never have enough black hats

I absolutely love this knife. The mudder grip fits my hand well, the choil is sized and placed correctly, and the curve of the blade makes it fun to whittle and wood-craft with. I basically have minimal carving skills but this knife makes me feel like I might have a little potential. As I look closely at the edge, it seems like a bit of an asymmetrical or scandi-type grind but I am not an expert by any means. It does need some sharpening but I don't want to mess with the grind if it was done this way for a reason. Any advice on tuning up the edge without affecting the grind would be helpful.

I didn't do any major work with it but here's a whittling pic:

I would also like to thank Klink for his kind words of support through a difficult situation. You went out of your way to be pleasant and helpful, not all forum moderators (on other sites) care enough to make a difference. This forum is one of the best; thanks for keeping it that way. And thanks to the other forum members for not kicking me overboard while helping me keep faith.

And lastly, has anyone made a custom sheath yet for the Bird Dogs? Please post pics if you have one, I need to find something more than the non-tactical cardboard or the pouch that I'm using now.
