I put a thinner edge on my YKLE which really made for a better knife. If you really want to judge edge retention stick it in a Lansky and grind her down to 20 degrees. I found edge retention to be a lot better than I expected from my reading on S7 but still not quite stainless. That's probably the good heat treat but for knives that need edge retention over toughness we have the 154.

Ahh, but IMHO the Mud Puppy looks nothing like the Warden, whereas the Yard Keeper (and Howler for that matter) look like larger Game Wardens to me. And no worries and far as the edge, I know my way around a sharpening stone. I usually put a 15/30 deg angle on my knives, I have a 120 grit DMT stone which just EATS metal, and then I will hit it up with the sandpaper, 220 though 1000 grit. Then strop to a mirror polish, takes about 15-20 mins freehand. I wish I had Horn Dogs skill with the sander, I could save some time! But I destroyed the tips on 5 different knives using it, so I guess its just not my thing :P.

Congrats on the SS4 and Keeper LE!

Both great knives, the SS4 is still on of my favorites.

OK! What I have learned......SS4 is WAY bigger than I thought, overall is longer than the YKLE! And WOW are the resc handles light! I was really surprised by that. Initially I wasn't going to keep either, the SS4 because its too big for edc, which is why I got it, and the YKLE was gonna go since I prefer a finger choil The SS4 is gone now, but I decided to fix the problem with the YKLE, and open the choil on it. Now it RULES! I'm having a hard time getting a shaving edge on the knife though? I'm not sure if its the thick grind, (I ground it down quite a bit) or if I;m not used to SR-77 yet.

I was really surprised how light the SS4 was too. It had to do with a combination of thickness (compared to something like the DM), stick tang, and res-c. Looking forward to seeing the modded YK.
