It is everything it is cracked up to be!

The new Seoul Semi Conductor P7 LED is rated at 900 lumen's on high when driven with a 18600 battery. Does it make 900?
I have no way to measure, but it does make my Fenix TK-10 seem to be OFF when the P7 is shown over it.

The P7 is actually 4xP4's toggled together. So the Fenix TK-10 using 1x P4 and driving it with 2x123 batteries making a whopping 210 lumen's is absolutly whacked stupid by the new P7 LED chip.
It runs on the 18600 battery platform that provides more drive than 2x123 batteries as in the Fenix.

On low the TK-10 and the MTE P7 from S.S.C. seems to be a draw.
With perhaps a nudge going to the Fenix brute.
When turned loose on high the MTE P7 throws white at double the kelvins of the Fenix TK-10. It is almost blinding white. The center spot is solid and defined. The corona is also very defined and twice the kelvins in pure white color of the Fenix top of the line light.

This is a 1 battery light that is making 900 lumens on high. You really have no idea how bright that really is until you see it for yourself! It is unreal. I can see my two black dogs in the Wisconsin night with ease. For acres and acres with ease!

I am able to light up a STOP sign 3/4's of a mile down the road from our home with clarity and ease.
Bought mine from China Quality Goods on E-Bay. Packed better than ANY E-Bay vendor I have ever used.Trusted and very reliable. Arrived in 8 working days!

If you have fifty bucks to try a new LED go buy a new P7 based flashlight. There is no way you will be disappointed with your investment. The P7 will usher in a whole new realm of lighting. Buy one and enjoy the ride!

Peace.

WOW!!! Thanks for the Review, PoP!

That sounds like a must have light!

I can't wait to hear more about how it works out over the next few weeks. Battery life and the like.

How much do those batteries cost? Where would you get them?

Other Thoughts: Draws around 3 amps on 'high' with a fully charged li-ion (which is a tiny bit over 4V unloaded).
It does have a HUGE copper heat sink built in. Disapates heat like a champ!

I expect they connect the led directly to the battery on high, which is probably driving the led a tiny bit too hard if you look at the specs (since a fully charged li-ion tops a bit over 4v, and the specs on the led are at most 3.8v or so).

On the upside it means it's way bright though!!

Run time is rated at 60-70 minuets on High and on Low 5-6 hours

So as you can see by the ratings this is NOT a camp light by any means.
This light is designed to carry the new P7 emitter and that's it!

It cranks out so much light from its tiny hand held size it is unbelievable.
It is a HID flashlight at 50 bucks you can't possibly go wrong.

I will shoot night pics tonight...storm last night prevented me from doing it sooner. When you see how badly this P7 chip slaps the top of the line Fenix TK-10 ..... you will order one.

The color of light, the throw and spill are godly. The hot spot is solid with NO rings or halo detectable anywhere at all!

Pics tonight after 10:30 Central time.

Peace.

I hi-jacked this post from LED Professional magazine. It gives a detailed
explanation of how and what combines to make the P7 the new brightest LED on the planet.

It is VERY long winded but interesting. If you feel like finding out more then by all means please read more. If not... please forgive the long boring post that follows.

Peace.

Z-Power P7 Series - World’s Highest Brightness of 900 lm at 10-watt
February 26, 2008 - The 10W P7 single LED package produces luminous flux of 900 lumens ? much higher than the 60-watt general residential incandescent lamps, which only produce 660 lumens. The Z-Power P7 Series has an efficacy of 90 lumens per watt from a single package, which is eight times higher than incandescent lamps.

Comparison of P7, Incandescent Lamp and Fluorescent Lamp:

The Z-power P7 Series overwhelms incandescent lamps in terms of energy efficiency, a significant development that signals LED’s penetration into the general lighting market is just around the corner. Compared to general 60-watt incandescent lamps, which provide an efficacy of approximately 11 lumens per watt, Z-Power P7 Series emits light at 900 lumens and has efficacy of 90 lumens per watt. This breakthrough is happening at a time when rising oil prices and environmental concerns have fueled the interest for energy- efficient systems all around the world.

In addition, the Z-Power P7 Series shows remarkable performance compared to compact fluorescent lamps, which are widely available at most retailers. In a comparison between Z-Power P7 and a compact fluorescent lamp consuming electricity of 15 watts and emitting light at 924 lumens, the compact fluorescent lamp shows an efficacy of 61 lumens per watt, while the Z-Power P7 Series’ efficacy is nearly one-and-a-half times higher at 90 lumens per watt.

Another advantage is low light loss rate. General light sources, such as fluorescent lamps and incandescent lamps, emit in all directions and the light loss rate is high. This means that only 60% to 70% of light produced from general light sources is applied to illuminate an object. In contrast, Seoul Semiconductor’s Z-Power P7 series is able to focus light in a specific direction based on the users’ need. As a result, there is little loss of light generated from the source. Not only is efficacy of the Z-Power P7 Series nearly one-and-a-half times higher than general light bulbs, but when the light loss is considered, the actual luminous efficacy of the Z-Power P7 Series is nearly two-and-a-half times higher than that of a general light bulb of approximately the same luminous flux.

Seoul Semiconductor’s Z-Power P7 Series can be applied in many fields such as general residential lighting, streetlights, a variety of task lights, high-end flashlights for military, police or rugged use, and landscape lighting requiring extremely bright light.

P7 package delivering 900 lumens at 10 watt power consumption.

“Development of the 900 lumens, 90 lumens per watt P7 Series is a milestone achievement that reinforces Seoul Semiconductor’s leadership position in the global LED industry,” said Mr.Kwon, a director of the comapny's power LED business department. "We will develop new ultra high power products emitting over 1,000 lumens during the third quarter of this year to consolidate and continue advancing our technology.”

Seoul Semiconductor won accolades from the LED industry when it announced the world’s first 240 lumens single die Z-Power LED P4 Series in December 2006. Since then, the company has consecutively introduced many other innovative products to the market including the 420 lumens super bright single-package LED, and the world’s thinnest chip LED at 0.17mm and 80 lumens per watt which runs directly from AC outlets. These achievements have allowed Seoul Semiconductor to maintain its leadership position in the industry as one of the world’s most competitive and innovative producers of leading edge LED technology.

Increasingly, governments around the world have proposed regulations to ban the use of inefficient incandescent lamps in an effort to conserve energy and substantially reduce CO2 emission that contributes to the greenhouse effect. Seoul Semiconductor is keeping pace with significant advancement in LED technology including the introduction of the P7 Series to offer consumers a viable alternative to incandescent lamps that is energy-efficient and environmentally friendly.

E-Bay.... China Quality Goods

MTE SSC P7 Flashlight.

And now the out of focus but still HIGHLY illuminating photos taken just moments ago.

This is the MTE P7 on the left...IT WILL ALWAYS BE ON THE LEFT!!!

On the right in this photo is a 4 D Cell Krypton bulb Maglite..it only has one position...on.

All shots are taken at 75 feet from the home.

MTE on High power Fenix TK-10 on High power

[Linked Image from i167.photobucket.com]

As you can see it is many times brighter than the Fenix ... as it should be at 900 lumen's vs 210 lumen's. The price of the MTE just the light is less than $50.00 and with a charger and 2 18600 size batteries it was $86.00 delivered.

The Fenix TK-10 was $74.00 delivered.

The shots can NOT show how W H I T E that MTE P7 LED chip really is.

It is amazing and for it's price... unmatched currently.

All I need is a 2 mode but there are 8 mode and 5 modes out there as well.
Wolf eyes has a similar light with a P7 but not driven with the stronger 18600 batteries it advertises I believe 540 lumen's with its smaller batteries.

They charge $217.00 for that flashlight.

All in all I am overwhelmed with the throw, spill and kelvins of the MTE P7 it is by far the strongest light I own.

Size... the head is slightly larger and deeper for throw than the Fenix TK-10 in length it is about 1x123 battery larger than the Fenix. Still a very easy to hold light unit.

The package I bought also had a belt holster of ballistic nylon and velcro to hold it but the kicker is on the belt side of the holster they also installed a snap so it not only velcro's into place but snaps as well for added security. Nice touch!

Peace.
