why does that 154cm get so hot so quick? i have sharpened a few other small blades ton the sander that didn't do that.

I have some unhardened ATS-34 that was quite different to work with than the )1 and 1095 and 5160 I am used to. It heats up really fast but grinds fast as well.
It takes a great edge and polish though. ATS-34 is the same as CPM154.

My HC will cut paper but won't shave hair yet. My personal #173 has a date with the Lansky.

Unlike Unsub and pitman, I usually prefer a folder to a small fixed blade. The HC, MP, Fallkniven F1, and Bayley BG are my smallest. I think I would like the 4" HC even better than this one, but I just don't like little knives enough to bother getting another one. For my actual real world uses, I have found that all I need is a folder (any of them) and a machete. I don't split logs that often, but that monster FFBM can handle that. As small fixed blades go, this little HCLE is among my nicest. It is quite handy and with the kydex, easy to carry.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.
