The rains have let up for a day or so. My yard is a jungle. I've been using my lawn tractor, push mower, and weedwhacker. But some of this is machete and knife work. Usually I use a large folder for trimming the little lower suckers on the wax mytles along the road. Today, I'm going to give the puppy a real workout. ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SYKCO/MudPuppy004.jpg) I usually use the 18" Tramontina for the bigger stuff and the RT for the more precision trimming. It doesn't slice into the tree trunk. ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SYKCO/MudPuppy005.jpg) Little stuff like this is best done with a small knife. ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SYKCO/MudPuppy008.jpg) The Mud Puppy did just fine. ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SYKCO/MudPuppy011.jpg) I think the mytles look better with the lower trunks trimmed. Interesting shapes. ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SYKCO/MudPuppy012.jpg) Stopped for a quick snack of wild berries. They grow all over my property. ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SYKCO/MudPuppy015.jpg) ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SYKCO/MudPuppy017.jpg) Now I'll go out back for some more strenuous testing. ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SYKCO/MudPuppy021.jpg) For light trimming, the RT is just fine, but I would not baton with it. ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SYKCO/MudPuppy023.jpg) The thicker MP should be able to do small pieces. ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SYKCO/MudPuppy025.jpg) [img] http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SYKCO/MudPuppy032.jpg[/img] [img] http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SYKCO/MudPuppy033.jpg[/img] Oh yes, just fine. Now to DRIVE THE POINT INTO THIS MAPLE! [img] http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SYKCO/MudPuppy035.jpg[/img] [img] http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SYKCO/MudPuppy036.jpg[/img] No problem. No broken point, either. I didn't actually pry with it. I just let it wedge the piece off. I have had bad luck prying with 154 CM. I'm beat. I did a lot of machete work out back. Lets the beeze in from the river. [img] http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SYKCO/MudPuppy026.jpg[/img] [img] http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SYKCO/MudPuppy027.jpg[/img] I think to MP is a fine little utility knife. I may just take off the belt loop and carry it in my pocket.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Nice Pics, you have a really beautiful peice of property. Thanks. It was all overgrown and weedy looking when chickenplucker and his wife came by on Tuesday. I was embarassed, but it had been storming for days. I cleaned up this area along the road this morning. ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SYKCO/MudPuppy003.jpg) Cleaned off the drive and edged it some. Mowed. It looks acceptable now. ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SYKCO/MudPuppy001.jpg) ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SYKCO/MudPuppy030.jpg) I figured this was as good a time as any to see how the MP was as a work knife. It is pretty good. The mudder handle is easy on the hands. I haven't really put the HCLE to work yet. The HCLE would probably do as well, but the mudder grip on the MP is really better for a work knife.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Before the thunderstorms run me back inside, here are my other little fixed blades. ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SYKCO/SmallFB001.jpg) Top to bottom: Swamp Rat Hairy Carry LE, Scrap Yard Mud Puppy LE, Fallkniven F1, Bayley Bear Grylls, and Scrap Yard Street Scrapper 4 (my favorite). ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SYKCO/SmallFB002.jpg) Love those mudder handles. ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SYKCO/SmallFB004.jpg) Here is a spine shot. As you can see, the F1 is the beefiest. ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SYKCO/SmallFB007.jpg) Here are my scrappers and rat in their rainwalker best. ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SYKCO/SmallFB011.jpg)

Cool pics as usual Vic. Mudder grips are my favorite from a "feel" standpoint.

Mmmm Berries! The wife and I have been picking Black and Blueberries all throughout the month of June. We'll likely make some jam this weekend and do a little canning. Who know's Vic, I may make a gift run on you and bring over some jam and a 6 pack of IPA.
Peace Jerry

Nice pics Vic, I really like the location of your property. Guys if it wasnt for a few trees Horn Dog could sit on his porch and watch ships and shrimp boats come and go. Vic I love those rainwalker sheaths,I just sent that little custom I got from Ban too Jeff for some pants. I wish i had stayed longer the other day and viewed more of your knives but that gives me reason for another visit. Chickenplucker

Peace Jerry Sounds good, Jerry. My dad used to make some awesome wine with wild berries. Mom brewed the ale. Bring it! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> Remember, "Anything that can be fermented, should be fermented." - the late Bob Ross.
