I blame Mike Stewart, Fallkniven, and Jerry Busse for this obsession with convex edges. That new SARQ CE is scary sharp, right from Wauseon. And the BRKTs all come very sharp. My first was the Bravo-1. I wondered why the Busses didn't come that sharp, but the new CE models are just as sharp. Now I want wicked sharp edges on every knife I have, especially my machetes, which are my most used fixed blades in the Summer.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

I want to turn every coated BusseKin knife into a Comp model!
That Ontario Machete looks AMAZING. What is the steel they use? I have a date with the stripper and grinder myself<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Today was the Scrap Yard SS4's turn for some love. I kept it coated for a long time. But since it is my favorite 4" knife, it got a lot of use. I stripped it a while back, but I wanted to put a big convex edge on it like some others have done. This took a while. There is always that valley in the middle of the original primary grind that takes forever to grind out. ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SYKCO/SS4001-1.jpg) It's getting there. ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SYKCO/SS4003-1.jpg) Now it should cut like my F1, which came with a full convex grind. ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SYKCO/SS4004-1.jpg) Not perfect, but I can live with it. ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SYKCO/SS4009.jpg) ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SYKCO/SS4010-1.jpg)

Well it isn't as good as Mike Stewart's edges. I'll be glade when my new grinding belts come in. I've been using a bunch of old cheap ones. They are only good for a few passes before they load up or wear out. I worked on my Entrek Disappointer for a while. Like some other knives, it looks like a chopper, but it chops poorly. I got the edge as thin as I could without totally screwing up the looks of the knife (which I have been known to do). ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SYKCO/SS4013-2.jpg) ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SYKCO/SS4015-1.jpg) This is as thin as I can go on this 1/4" thick saber ground blade. ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SYKCO/SS4017.jpg) Maybe it will chop now.

HD, Let us know....
Have you performed any magic on a straight BM ? I would like to see how your stripping and finishing looks on one of those?
Also if you were to pick a companion smaller knife to go with a FFBM/BM which would it be and why?

I stripped and put a convex edge on a Busse FBM and FFBM. I don't have a lot of Busses. If I were to pick one that I have for a combat knife, it would be the Skinny ASH-1, Swamp Rat M6, or Scrap Yard S6. I would carry that and a multi-tool or SAK. If I thought that I might actually have to fight with the knife, a situation I would try to avoid, I would carry the DFLE. I could always blue the blade or, gasp, paint it.
