Maybe a little OT, but check out this convex I did on a 16" Ang Khola. ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/Knife/CAK16012-1.jpg) ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/Knife/CAK16010-1.jpg)
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

I put a thinner edge on my FFBM, too. ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/Knife/ChopOff011.jpg) I was getting ready for a chop off I did this afternoon. Not sure where I should post it. BF Reviews and testing is mostly about folders. Half the guys on W&SS forum don't care for choppers. Did a HI Khukuri review over there but the HI didn't come out on top for me in the chop-off. I don't think many on the Busse forum are interested in non-Busses. Anyway, these are some serious choppers. ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/Knife/ChopOff005.jpg)

Great job, Vic.
It takes some serious work to get the edge right on most of those Kukris. They usually come with a pretty thick edge. Looks like you could shave with it now.

Yes, it took all morning. Never did a convex on a double-fullered 7/16" knife before. The Busse was easier. I posted the chop off over on Busse forum, since the FFBM kicked butt. Doubt if it will interest most, who keep their knives in safes and only take them out to polish them. There are some serious users over there, though.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Just saw it, very nice, the FFBM was the winner, but.....

Nice review Vic....does your FFBM have standard grips? They seem thinner than Mag's? The Kukri you used.....would that be heavier than the CS Kukri ? Looks like it and by quite a bit if it is 16 inches on the blade.....it looks like the quality of the steel as well as the edge must play a part?
Has me thinking would a San Mai CS kukri may be the the best challenger out there?
If it is just blade geometry and edge you would think your 16 inch Kukri would have it? That edge looked as sharp as you can get....
Maybe it is a combination of steel and the heat treatment given to the blade that makes the difference ?
Design wise the kukri blade should have a lead on the FFBM for chopping....the performance of the FFBM really is suprising but perhaps not when looking at the Nos tests.....I wonder what an Infi Kukri would be like? Makes you wish Jerry would get the drawings we have seen put into effect

Yes, standard grips. Yes, the Ang Khola weighs 27 oz, the CS 22 oz, I think. The CS has a 12" blade vs 10.75" for this khuk. I don't think the quality of the steel has that all that much to do with a short chopping contest. The INFI would definitely hold its edge longer than the HI. The CS Carbon V is better than the spring steel HI uses, too. I like the full flat grind on the CS better, too. A heavier Khuk, one as heavy as the FFBM would have an advantage, IMO. You know that my FFBM has a super sharp convex edge. That INFI can take a little sharper edge than I could get with the HI, but they both will shave. I think the San Mai Kukri is probably very nice, but I already have a Carbon V one and it cuts just fine.
As for an INFI Kukri, Sign me up! A SY Kukri with SR77 steel and Res C handle (especially in the kukri shape) would be awesome. It would be expensive. Think of how wide the stock would have to be to make it.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Yes, I agree that a SY Kukri would be my choice as well because the Res C grip would make the most of being able to use it anywhere in the world. No steel contact for Artic weather.....not slippy in wet conditions.....cushioning effect as well on hard woods or anything else for that matter. That knife would have huge military interest over here I reckon if it was priced right.....and here is my one moan on this topic....I would not mind paying a high price to buy it off the maker....but having so many "steel speculators" out there....it would be interesting to see if a limitation policy could be imposed to enable stock to be available from the maker....otherwise these knives are just being made to line the pockets of guys who can buy as many as they can get to re-sell at hugely marked up prices. There is more Busse-kin steel being hoarded and never used than enough.....
Somebody should do something about limiting the number one person can buy of a given knife from the makers so that the "good news" can be spread around at fair prices!
I just paid $300 for a DFCG.....and it was hard to find....why not just sell them for a price which reflects their top end value and cut out the secondary market/mark up so that people are not rushing to get rich? It is like selling $100 dollar bills for $50.00.....maybe then the makers could be able to carry some stock once in a while....benefit from their labour more and expand with the increased capital so we have more choice!
