Hi--first post! I'm new to the 'Yard.
I believe I've got my first Busse-kin knife--a Yard Hook--on the way. I'm looking for a decent sheath that won't break the bank. (Recently had Baby #5, so I'm not exactly awash in cash!) Ideally, I would probably like something synthetic, maybe with a pouch on the front for a multi-tool and/or other survival gear--but if there's a pure Kydex model readily available for a lot less, that might be the way to go. Someone suggested a company called "Spec Ops", but I'm not sure their sheaths would fit. What are the exact blade measurements on a Yard Hook, by the way--anyone know? Like, does the 7 inches include everything to the front of the handle, or just cutting edge? And how wide is the Yard Hook blade? Thickness, I see on the website specs, but not width.
Anyway, thanks for being here, and thanks in advance for the advice!

Welcome to the Yard/Forum DesertDog!
the sheath makers usually get or have the blade to custom fit it best(most of the time) Rainwalker or Leatherface are our best makers IMO, great guys, great products and great to work with, they'll fix you up bro. Find their name in a post, click on it, and give them a pm (personal message), they do it right!

Welcome to the yard. I'm guessing that you missed these on the order page. I have a few and it fits the Yard guard and the Mini Mojo just fine. http://shop.scrapyardknives.com/product.sc?categoryId=5&productId=12ANyone else get an expired certificate when shopping the Scrapyard store?

I have a Yard Hook also its one beefy knife,I believe the thickness to be around .285" actual cutting edge is more like 6.5in. then theres the choil.Horn Dog was good enough to point me to the company order page where you can order a 6" sheath and with some modification will fit the Hook.Mod meaning cutting a notch in the Kydex insert for the Hook part so the blade fits all the way in.Oh and welcome Desertdog to the forum! Ted, the "6-inch knife" sheath offer you linked to on the scrapyard page looks like EXACTLY what I'm interested in--but I was worried it wouldn't fit the 7-inch blade of the Yard Hook. If I can get confirmation that the "6-inch" sheath will fit a 7-inch blade, I'm all over it!

They are not quite as nice as the spec ops, but they are decent and the price is really hard to beat.

Ordered one! Thanks! By the way, how big is the pouch on the front? Will it hold, say, a Leatherman or Gerber multi-tool? I know you can do that with the sheath that comes with a new model Ranger RD-7; will that work with this, too?

Oh: those of you who've done the "notch" thing: any tricks to doing it with minimum compromise to the sheath's integrity? Like, do you do a straight, .280-inch-ish notch down on the back side of the insert? Or do you cut off a corner? Or something else?

I did a post on it, but the pics are gone. I just pulled the liner out and notched it on the front down the length of the blade catch on the Hook. That sheath is actually the old Busse 7" and it fits the YH, YG, ASH-1, and even the new Sarsquatch.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.
