Awesome sheath! I'll have to consider that over the SYK Cordura, though I appreciate the pointer, Horn Dog . Now to wait on a partially serrated Active Duty w/ black crinkle & black paper micarta to fill that piggyback .

So what's the "tiny mod[ification] that allows a Yard Hook to open beer bottles? Pictures, anyone?

You need to thin the tip of the hook a bit (from round to angular) so it can get a good "grip" under the cap.

What do you do to fix the finish after you thin it out?

(Incidentally, though I hate to mod something so hard to get, there is the countervailing consideration that a "blade catch" on a knife might be construed as making it a weapon--whereas if the "blade catch" is demonstrably modified to be a beer-bottle opener, I imagine that problem might diminish.)

But for finishing it 400-600 grit is probably good.

Here is what it should look like, red line is the mod. A very small mod. Sorry for the crude drawing.

That little sharpened point will allow the hook to catch underneath the cap.

I think it will be on the underside or close to it, so nothing to be done to the finish. Well, you probably won't notice it. What you say?

A was about to say that, but you still will notice it and me, personally, I have a pet peeve about finishes.

Anything can be done with sandpaper, depends if you want to take the time. A small electronic rotary device would make it easier and quicker. Less messy as well.
