About the Hard anodizing, There was someone on CPF that took a Maglite with the same aluminum body as the Surefire, though it was not hard anodized (the Surefire was), he was able to saw through the maglite body with the Surefire body!

Unsub, Ive never seen a fenix more durable then a surefire, and Ive seen dozens of each. It should also be mentioned the fenix over states their run times much more then surefire.

Bingo! I have several Surefires and a bunch of Fenix lights. I really like the Fenix lights, but there has never been a Fenix built that is tougher/more durable than a Surefire, never.

interesting info guys!

I've been thinking about a Surefire or a Fenix. I've come close to getting one or the other a few times and always wondered if the Surefire was worth the price difference.

I've got a good Pelican and Inova LED as well as several Mag lights, and Photons, but I've always wanted to get something even better. My blade habit usually gets in the way though.

Another option would be to find a used regular G2 or P6 and put one of Gene Malkoff's LED upgrades in it. They come in various power levels and you can pick the LED internals that are most appropriate for the task at hand. I have an M60L in my P6.

surefire makes a G2 LED and 6P LED now both are really good lights.

I have a few beamshots sessions over at CPF showcasing the most powerful mods in a SureFire host. Yes, I typically play with the high output, poor runtime incandescents, but am no stranger to LED modules either. Your very best bet for high output and long runtimes in a SureFire w/ a single emitter would require custom fabrication from CPFer Milkyspit member and require:

1. Seoul P7 Tower Module + SureFire M6 (bored reflector) + FM 3x17670 (paralleled contacts) + Pila 600S x 3. In direct drive, think 800-900 lumens for 4500mAh / 2800mA = 1.60h * 60min/h = 96min runtime.

2. Seoul P7 Tower Module + SureFire M4 (bored for 18mm cells & bored reflector) + Pila 600P x 2. In direct drive, think 800-900 lumens for 4400mAh / 2800mA = 1.57h * 60min/h = 94min runtime.

Or you can opt for a Milkyspit multi-Cree (throw), or multi-P4 (flood) solution. A simpler, off-the-shelf option would entail:

1. SureFire C3 (bored for 18mm cells, or not) + Pila 300S x 2 (or Pila 300P x 2) + Malkoff M60 (or M60L, M60LL, or M60F, depending upon desired application)

For superior throw to any of the Malkoff modules, go with the following:

1. SureFire C3 (bored for 18mm cells, or not) + Pila 300S x 2 (or Pila 300P x 2) + Dereelight 1SM-2

Else wait for the SureFire UA2, or UB2, both of which are to be fitted with the P7 .

Great Post Adamlau,

I have my Surefire M4 & M6 setup with Lumens HO-M4A, 12V, 550 lumens and a Lumens HO-M6R, 13V, 700 lumens respectively.

The higher voltages allow for the use of rechargeable CR123A batteries in the flashlights. They work great! Very bright light that has a run time of about 35 minutes with this setup.
