Well my Dog Father showed up today and overall I am pretty pleased with it. I am a little disapointed with the edge however. It almost looks like each side of the edge was ground at a diffrent angle. I guess I get to learn to reprofile a blade.

Here is the side that looks good.

This side of the edge doesn't look so good. This side is much shallower.

I love the downward tilt at the end of the blade. Graceful for such a BEAST.

Condrats on finally getting your Father home. The edge is no biggie I re did mine they way I want mine to be too. I have all my blades razor sharp not chopping sharp. Different grinds for different tasks. But I now slice tomatoes with my Dog Father. LOL,Hell of a kitchen slicer eh? Can't wait to redecorate a Turkey with it!

Peace.

POP - Sounds like your DogFather needs to get out of the kitchen and go for a walk in the woods! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

It could be the coating. I find I have to reprofile all my knives to some extent
some more than others to make them perfect. It would cost so much to spend the time making the edge perfect that it would cost as much as a Busse. It is one of those things that has to be done by human hands. I like to put my own stamp on the blade anyway. My SS4 is much nicer with the 3bevel edge I put on it.

I just got a Spyderco Sharpmaker - Foolproof! Might take a while though... I, personally, would just go chopping crazy before spending a bunch of time messing w/ the edge. Now... I haven't taken my DF out yet, but its on my to do list! Too busy... way too busy....

Anyways, Congrats on the new blade!

After initial chopping frenzy I plan to run a really fine edge like a cutting comp
knife.

I plan on doing the same. I haven't really had the chance to go all paul Bunyon with mine yet.
