Fine.
I'll play around with it. If I can ever get away for another field test or just some camping time.

I love your tests, Noss. But you definitely have a different chopping technique than I have. You do things to knives that nobody else is doing. Don't let any of our minor criticisms upset you. Carry on!

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

It would be nice to believe that nobody here is being malicious and merely mocking you for the sake of mocking you, but rather pointing out perceived flaws in your testing method in a genuine attempt to either understand your technique or explain the more typical one.

Come Back Noss.

[censored] right! Noss; you separate the good from the bad and the handles from the blades... It's tough rewardless work but someone has to do it!

Seriously you'll never get abuse here as Scrapyard knives are [censored] near Noss-proof so you can't upset any fan-boys by easily breaking one...

(Good Basic 9 review, even if you did muck it up slightly by putting the knife in the vice in the wrong place! )

Err Noss, you might want to stay away from testing small 154CM knives..

No problem guys. Everything I do is on full video so everything is seen and heard.
I have read peoples comments on everything from what I wear do and say. Sometimes
all the little things wear a little thin with me. I guess I need to stop reading so much of it. lol. It's hard to see the outright attacks from the the legitimate debate anymore.

Anyways, Implume I read the link you posted and I'll try it out the next time
I go out into the woods. I don't have any big logs around the house.

Later dogs.

Fair enough. Let us know how it comes out.

You are dead on right about chopping technique, Implume. I can chop a thick log with a thin machete, using the 45 degree attack angle.

Well stated Vic.

To be fair using hand tools is a lost art.

I learned using hammer, saw, block plain, axe, etc., before I learned to shave. It's hard for me to think of these as lost arts.

I also learned by hand saw, chain saw, hammer, block, axes, splitting wedges, etc etc., long before I had any peach fuzz on my chin. For me, the idea of using the 45 degree chopping technique just seems second nature. I find it to be an easy flowing movement once begun. Even if you "waste" more wood in the chopping, it just means more tinder available for the camp fire.

But, I suppose it's all about what you've been exposed to in your life.

Noss, don't take the criticisms as insults. I've yet to meet a single member of this forum who openly insults and/or belittles another member. Take them as others have said, suggestions to help you out, nothing more.

Cheers, and thanks for everything you do.
