My CGFBM micarta slabs have been worn down to the point the handle feels smooth. Has anybody ever used a dremel tool or some other method to give their well worn handles a little grip?

I've never done it to old slabs before, but I did it to new micarta to make these slabs. They're not as fancy as the Busse slabs, though. I used a dremel (carbide burr bit) and a small rat-tail (round) file to do these.

Micarta responds very well to dremel work and sandpaper - wear a respirator and goggles, especially with G10.

Interesting dilema, bladez. Most people want to smooth the Micarta out some instead. I've used files, a dremel and belt sanders for shaping Micarta before, but if you want to maintain the original pattern, that's gunna be a lot of detailed work. Otherwise putting something simple on it shouldn't be to big a deal. Micarta is pretty easy to work with overall. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

you would have to be some type of dremel magician to touch those up effectively and not screw it up.

if you can do it more power to ya but to stay true to the design will need a very steady hand and one that is very familiar with a dremel.at least thats how i look at it.

Thanks for the tips. I tend to agree that it won't be easy to maintain the original pattern.
