I don't really see that as abused... Steel can pick up a lot of "character" on the surface without affecting its strength to a significant degree. We have wood working tools that are over 100 years old and they are completely brown with age, and they still work great. The images shown actually look quite a bit like an old saw blade, they acquire that same combination of dull polish and specks of color. Buffing it mirror-shiny every time you use it sounds like you're taking off a lot of steel over the lifetime of the tool, in my opinion.

To me it just looks "well loved" as Rainwalker says. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Jerry Busse makes the safe queens not Dan! That knife is looking darn good to me Northern1. Just give it an oil wipe then take it out this weekend and beat some trees!

SF's comment about food prep is a VERY valid point but I always partner my S6 or DFCG/Tram Bolo with a little stainless utility knife (currently a CRKT Dogfish) to avoid potential issues!

What would be great would be a limited run Yard Dai-sho; a DFLE and a 154CM Swarden type necker, one combo to do it all!! Hopefully also numbered with each set having a unique number... Possibly piggy back kydex in the factory store?

Proud +1 My DFLE is in pristine shape and I am a bit embarrassed about it.

I use mine. It's my favorite chopper.

Proud, man you should see my SBR... I love that blade, I let her eat as much as I can too.

Respect the tool by using it within its perameters and maintain it accordingly is what I go by.

Carry that blade with pride

I think you ruined that DFLE. Absolutely ruined it. But, I tell you what I'll do. I'm going to do you a favor. I'll take it off your hands, for $50.00.

It's a shame what you've done to that blade...
