The water has gone down enough to start cleaning up the property after Fay's long visit. It is still very humid and hot, but I have some help. My little mule and DFLE.

I also have my little reptilian friends, but they don't help much other than scurry around looking good.

I hate getting the DFLE all stained again, but it has a great edge for chopping up these branches.

I found that with my burnt out barrel on top of my fire place, I get a good draw and it burns hot. I start the fire with some fat lighter and throw in some split maple, it gets to roaring like an afterburner, consuming even damp green yard debis in seconds!

Nothing like cleaning up the yard in style. Rainwalker leather.

Well, I gotta get back to it. Have fun, dogs.

Whew! I'm tired from just looking at the pics, <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Time for a cold one, Vic! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I can't think of a better working companion than the DFLE! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Although that Mule looks pretty handy! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I am done for the day. This heat just wilts me. Time for a cold Schlitz. If I can just get one more day without too much rain, I'll have it done. Got the DFLE all cleaned up and perched back on its bowie stand. I think I'll use my golok tomorrow. It stays dirty anyway. Heck of a yard knife.

Oh you heard about that. Yeah, it will never look quite the same! I did manage to get a new one that was actually straight, thanks to Wendy at KSF. But it stays safe in its box. I am so glad it wasn't the DFLE's turn at chopping for the burn barrel that day. I sold my extra one to Chickenplucker. A burnt Res C handle would be hard to explain. I probably would have epoxied on a stag horn handle or something.

Yes. They don't come around that often. Just an awesome bush knife. It may look funny, but it is so handy and effective as a chopper and slasher. It is really cool to be able to chop right at the end of the blade, for close pruning and precise cuts. It works as a draw knife, too. It is one of those tools that one must use a while to appreciate. Best yard blade ever. I can trim wax myrtles like a pro with the golok.
