The mailman was real good to me today. I got my HCLE from the Swamp and my Competition SJTAC from the last Busse Ganzaa. First impressions: The Comp. SJTAC is scary sharp, fits my hand very well and looks beautiful, wicked and awesome all at the same time. The HCLE arrived with a nice sharp blade, just not in the same league as the comp. Blade. It’s going to be a fine addition to my user collection.

I think the CE SJTAC is superb....one of the best....that knife and maybe a larger chopper would be all you ever need. If I had been able to stay up....that would have caught my eye for sure....great choice!

Nice SR as well. It is in tough company there though.....

Congrats on the Busse steel, Dogbert. That SJTAC looks like a very practical medium sized knife. It would be a perfect combat knife. The HCLE is a great little EDC.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

funny...my HCLE arrived when I was in wine country on my honeymoon. It was waiting for me when I got back. I got #597...three away from yours.

+1

GREAT score on both counts.

My SJTAC was an older one that was originally coated. I have made some modifications to my SJTAC - mainly just to: strip coating, satin finish, "Full" convex, remove the thumb ramp and modify the handle to better fit my hand. There are probably a few areas of the handle that I wish were a little thicker, but even still it really is one of my favorite knives period. Any maker, any size.

The SJTAC just has an amazing balance and feel, with one of my favorite all-around blade shapes. It isn't a good chopper, but I don't look for a knife of it's size to be a chopper. It is however, one of the best all-around mid-sized knives I own.

I have drawn up a whole lotta concepts in different sizes based on using the SJTAC's blade shape.

-------------

The HCLE is quickly becoming one of my favorite of all "Busse and kin" smaller knives. I think it has good potential and is pretty highly under-rated.

I personally wish Busse would "Try" to get away from choils (and Talon Holes) on their smaller knives, but the choil on the HCLE is pretty well done if you must have one.

.

JYD #39 I prefer "SATIN" blades!!!
