Why not just delete the offending post and PM a warning to the offender before banning (unless that was the action taken)?

I don't think you should get a warning for some things.
dogbert obviously wanted to get banned and just wanted to go out in a "blaze of glory", like previously mentioned.

Dare I ask? Why was Dogbert banned? I read that only very serious cases were called to task. Guys - Dogbert was banned because he made an obscene comment directly against Dan's honesty concerning the DogBowl. That behavior WILL NOT be tolerated on this forum. No matter how anxious, frustrated, or angry we may become, everyone is expected to be respectful on this forum. I am sorry to lose a new Dog, but that's the way it is. its not my business either but in defense of cold one i'll say this:
a new guy asked what the term "dog bowl" meant.
dogberts answer where the initials B.S. and pretty much accused dan of being full of it.they where harsh,to the point and totally out of left field.maybe he has key board turrets syndrome.
i'm not trying to fan the flames here.its just that it may seem from the outside like the mods where overly harsh but they werent.
i think it was a deliberate case of "suicide by moderator"
