Welcome to the Yard <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Nice choice for your first SY knife <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Just a reminder there will be a bone (BDLE) dropped in Dog bowl tomorrow. See sticky at the top of the page for details.

Good luck if you decide to stick your nose into the bowl <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

You guys rock. Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. Can already tell, I'm gonna like it here.

Welcome to The Yard, triplem. I'll also second what others have said about Jeff's products. If you're interested in a custom sheath, Rainwalker's are unbeatable. Could he make one for your DFLE? Of course he could. He's already made several.

My recommendation is simple. If you're willing to pay secondary market prices for SY blades, don't skimp on your sheaths. As with most things in life, you get what you pay for. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

bld522 - You are absolutely correct. I like your style<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />!

Bors - thanks for the heads-up re the dog bowl tomorrow. That BDLE is one attactive blade.

I'm feeling a little stupid - Is there a way to do multiple quotes in a single reply?

Neal

Welcome to the Yard, triplem. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I don't have either sheath, but for the price the SYKCO store sheaths are hard to beat. I've heard nothing but good things about the Cordura. Sound's like Implume gave a good description on the kydex. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Good luck with your choice.

Rainwalker - WOW, you do some beautiful work Jeff. I've browsed your site and seen the recent pics chickenplucker posted in another thread. I know there are a lot of makers that support Busse product - you seem to have quite a well deserved following here.

Thanks also for the comment re the Cordura sheath. It takes someone with character and integrity to recommend another's product, be it for reasons of quality, design, or simply price point.

Once I figure out what I want don't be surprised when you hear from me.

Neal

Welcome to the yard triplem. I will once again throw in my vote for Jeff's(Rainwalker) work. His sheaths are excellent, and of equal importance he is a great guy to deal with who listens to his customers so that they get what they want.

I would advise you to put a great deal of thought into your intended use for your DFLE, and how it is that you will likely be carrying/using it. Then, have a quality sheath designed that fits the knife well, and more importantly fits YOU well. A good sheath can sometimes make the difference between a knife that gets left at home, and a knife that gets carried into the woods.

You can manually type UBB code for Quote or clic on "Quote" in the "Instant UBB Code" list under the Post field when you are filling a post. Then you have to insert the text to be quoted between the begin quote tag and the end quote tag.

Hi All,

It's been fun the last few months. First I got a few Swamp Rats. That was followed by a few Busse's - one in hand and a few on order. Today I bought my first SY - a mint DF LE on the BF exchange. Should be in my hands some time next week.

Still a newbie to the Bussekin family but looking forward to contributing where I can.

I'll need a sheath for the DF and see SY has two for sale, one kydex and one nylon. Is one of those sheaths better than the other? Let me know what you have and why. I value everyone's input and would particularly like to hear from those that have both sheaths.

Thanks,

Neal
