For the benefit of the newer members, here is the YK. I stripped and polished mine so it looks a lot like the YKLE, only thinner. Here it is in its Rainwalker horizontal carry sheath. Actually a multi-carry sheath. ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SYKCO/YK001-2.jpg) ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SYKCO/YK002-1.jpg) ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SYKCO/YK003-2.jpg) This ain't no little cream puff, either. Check it out next to the Bayley Bear Grylls knife. ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SYKCO/YK008-1.jpg) Here it is with the BRKT Bravo-1 and Bayley: ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SYKCO/YK004-1.jpg) ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SYKCO/YK005-2.jpg) ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SYKCO/YK006-1.jpg) I just wanted to give the newer dogs an idea of its size relative to some well known 4" knives.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Hey Vic, what does the spine measure at on your Yard keeper at about an inch or so out from the handle?

Hey Vic, what does the spine measure at on your Yard keeper at about an inch or so out from the handle? I don't have a micrometer, but my tape measure reads 3/16" all the way out to 3", where it begins to taper.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Great comparison pics, HD. This is just what I need and appreciate. I'm looking forward to receiving my first fixed blade, the MPLE out of the Dog Bowl. And, I just bought a Ratmandu off of the BF. I am seriously looking at the Bravo !. My goal is to have one each of 3", 4", 5", ETC. Your compare of the SS4 and F1 was great! I'm a student of you and KnifeGuy.

how tough is the YK in comparison to other SY knives for hard use in the field. or is this knife made for more of a EDC type blade?
HD, what are the specs as far as thickness of the blade goes?

We have so many new dogs such as you, I thought it might be useful. It is sometimes hard to tell, even with the specs, just how one knife compares to another in size. Congrats on the Ratmandu. It is my favorite 5" knife. You are going to love it.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

![[Linked Image from i134.photobucket.com]](http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q85/sykcoknives/YardKeeper.jpg) The Yard Keeper Specs: Blade Length = 4 1/2" Overall Length = 9" Blade Thickness = 3/16" thick blade The Yard Keeper is SR77. That should answer any of your toughness questions. Of course the one being offered for sale is Tan instead of Black

If you don't sharpen your axe from time to time, you will soon be chopping with a hammer.

HD, what are the specs as far as thickness of the blade goes? As the specs say, recon, 3/16" thick blade. Yes this is a tough knife, easily able to take batonning, prying, and other hard use. It is also a nice EDC type knife, being only 9" overall length and weighing about 6 oz.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

I'm gunnin' now for a 4" and since I'll probably only dream of finding an SS4, I know I can't go wrong with an F1. I'll go for the YK in Dog Bowl 3 but if that doesn't work out I may be ordering the F1.
