Hi all,

I have been visiting some of the knives forums looking for knives for sale.
I have noticed that on one of the forum, there is a ScrapYard for sale. I checked in homepage of scrapyard and the price was stated for under $100. However, what confused me is the person seems to sell the same type of knife with extra $100 on top of the actual price listed in Scrap Yard price. Is this the way game is played?

I'm new and I'm trying to understand what is going on...

Welcome to the secondary market. In general, Busse family knives (Busse, Scrap Yard, and Swamp Rat) sell for 2-4 times the original price, even used ones! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />

for example.i just bought a dumpstermutt for $140.00 i think it was.when that knife was originally released by scrapyard it was $70.00.

this is why you want to buy the knives directly from scrapyard whenever you get a chance.i just bought a BDLE from them the other day for $90.00 i think it was.

i can go sell that for $130.00 any time i want now.

think of every single one of their knives like an antique car.it only goes up in value due to its rareness,collectablity and demand.

you can use'em and scratch'em all up and still sell them for way more than you payed for them because it will always be an incredible tool and one of the best and it is guaranteed for life....period.

It is necessary to understand that Scrapyard only makes a very small quantity of each model, and then sells them on a first-come/first-served basis. Typically a particular model of knife is sold out within 24 hours. Those who are part of the community see the alert before the stampede starts, and position themselves to buy one "or more" at the factory price. Then, once the dust settles, the "or more" are usually sold off at considerable markup; the seeming goal is to get a free knife via the profit on the spares.

So you either buy the one you want now at twice the original sale price... or you wait until something else is offered, hope it's something you're interested in, and that you manage to get one in the stampede. Frustrating, but that's the way things work.

As Northern1 points out though, Scrapyard makes an extremely good product (hence the demand), and it's warranted to last basically forever: if you break it, they'll make you a new one.

ok, that make sense now as I saw Scrapper6 for $200 for sale.

Yeah, welcome to the secondary market. It is the only way to get older knives.

but the S6 is the flag ship model and should come again, also the Dogfather (we hope). both have been released here several times.
