i picked up a SPEC-OPS BRAND "SOLDIERS OPTIMIZED BUTTPACK" {S.O.B.} sunday at the syracuse gun show.

theirs a guy their who is a spec-ops brand dealer.he also sells EOTECH and top shelf night vision.all military stuff.

i always grab something from him and i have been thinking about this S.O.B. for a while and finally picked it up.i am glad i did because i like this thing more than i ever thought i would.

front:

back:

the inside is lined with this super bright yellow rubber.it makes it brighter inside and easier to find stuff.some packs and pouches are like black holes.it also serves to water proof it that much more also

here it is next to one of the maratac pouches from countycomm.this will be replacing that and i will not miss it.i have two of the ones from countycomm and the quality just isnt their.they fall apart pretty quick.

i love this thing and plan on buying a second to replace the last countycomm bag i'm using.i think it is almost to big to be used as a buttpack.you would definitely need an "H" or "Y" harness with it.

i took the strap off my countycomm bag and now can carry it over the shoulder and it is very comfortable.

Nice review Northern1. A few questions, if you don't mind. I really can't tell how big the bag is. By way of example, how many 1 liter water bottles do you think would fit inside? Also, is that a shoulder strap pictured? I have been looking for a bag that can hold at least 2 one liter water bottles with a shoulder strap.

Thanks,

-Coley

That is a great little purse you have there. I have an OK Canadian issue 82 series man purse but it is getting old and could have a few more features. Still not bad for 2$.

to give you an idea, the two side pouches are each capable of holding 4 AR-15 mags each.i could probably fit a football inside the main compartment.the shoulder strap doesnt come with it.i improvised on it.

RAINWALKER,

i paid $42.00 for it but when i got home and started looking around i realized they are selling around $60.00.so it looks like i got a deal and had i known i would've bought a second.maybe at the april gun show because i will be getting a second.

he also had some of those new style spec-ops sheaths.the ones that have webbing on the front instead of a pouch.all his stuff seems priced below average.

Those sheaths sound great. I love the Spec ops sheaths but never liked the pouches because it adds weight to exactly the wrong spot. If you have a multitool or flashlight putting them on the other side of your belt to balance the weight out is much better.

Here is my 2$ Canadian issue 82 series buttpack. It even comes with a shoulder strap and will fit 2 ,1 litre bottles.

Yesterday when I went out to the bush to do my SS4 vs Skookum test i used this bag
with 2 knives ,a 750 ml water bottle(3/4 of a litre)a camera ,cellphone ,gloves ,toque ,survival kit ,multitoo ,flashlight and about 50 keys. It was pretty full but worked well even on the quad bouncing around.
The 2 velcro belt loops are quite handy for attaching things to it.

I also use mag pouches for all sorts of stuff. They make great tool kits for the bike and I also have one set up as a PSK kit. They were 2$ a peice as well and most of mine are C7(M16) ones I did have a few shorter fatter FAL ones but i gave them to a FAL collector.

I looked around a little on the web today. Best price I could find was about $58. You got a great deal!

i've got a few of the USGI buttpacks unsub and they look very similar to yours.i also have a nice blackhawk one and i can fit 2 USGI gore-tex suits in it or 2 USGI gore-tex bivvy bags in it.

i want one of the newer ones some companies are offering in the 1000-D CORDURA and with MOLLE webbing on it.they work great with a shoulder strap
