So I received the Yard Keeper today, and man, I love it! Until I had it in hand, I hadn't really realized what a nice sized EDC it is.

But I gotta say, Canada customs agents must be one really weird group. This week, I had four knives come to me; the BDLE, the Yard Keeper, a Cold Steel Machete, and a Muela Bolo. Of the four packages, the two from SYK were written up by the senders the most professionally, and they were the only two opened and inspected by the border customs agents!??! The other two gave very obtuse descriptions of what the packaged enclosed, including one, which said,"Really, really big knife". And it got passed through no problem; HUH???

Furthermore, they were the two smallest knives of the four; the machete was two feet long, the Bolo about thirteen inches, and the two SYKs are the ones they were concerned about?? It makes no sense.

I am one seriously confused guy when it comes to our Canadian agencies at times.

Yes, I have to agree that most customs offices are weird. You never know what will happen with the package.

I'm pretty sure the Canadian customs works on the quota system....open one/two....skip a few.

I've had boxes from Scrapyard opened and packages from Busse Combat opened....even had a couple from Rainwalker opened and yet nothing inside has been opened at all??

When you care enough to use only the best...stick'em with a SKYCO knife.

It isn't just Canadian authorities that make me wonder.

I know Canadian customs are different, but I wouldn't call cooking back bacon on the old Coleman and drinking Moosehead weird.

Yeah, border services and customs don't tend to hire the "best and bightest" o' the bunch, do they? I'm not saying they're all like that, just seems there's a lot that fall into that category, hmmm?

I've heard a few interesting customs stories in the past... Although I've rarely had any real problems, usually just delays, which can be a real pain in the you-know-what, when someone wants to know where their stuff is, and I have no way of keeping up with it most of the time once it leaves the county...

I wonder at times if they do a lot of the scanning by xray machine. Then if something doesn't look right or they can't get a good view they open them up.

I have brought a knife or two up from the states and there isn't a pattern that I have seen.

Could be. I know that right after 9/11/01 I was waiting for some metal-tubed LED flashlights, and found out that the Post Office by the seller was holding them up as "suspicious". It worked out though.
