Where does the 1 meter limit come from? There are no blade limits in the Criminal Code up here.
Spring assist such as Speed-Safe is legal. Knives which open ONLY by the push of a button or level on the handle are illegal.
"Concealed" blades such as the familiar dagger in a hair brush is illegal unless the overall length exceeds 30cm.
Oh, and belt buckle knives are frowned upon as well.
- Thanks for the correction on the spring assist one; I forgot to add that in. My bad, for being hasty and sloppy in my post.
- I hadn't heard about the concealed hairbrush blades; again, I've gotta find that book I have, referencing the restrictions of what they can & cannot seize items on. It was one they provided to a group of us going overseas to KAF, itemizing what we could & could not send home, and the reasons why.
- Don't recall seeing the thing about buckle knives either; again, gotta find that book.
- The reason we were given reference the one meter length limit was pretty vague; something about anything over that size being a questionable requirement for most Canadian citizens, and not being listed as a tool, but a weapon. He was mentioning about requiring paperwork verifying status as a collector, and a bunch of other garbage.
Again, some of the rules we were given, like the one meter length, do not cause the blade to be listed as illegal; they are merely conditions that they can utilize to hold your item for further investigation and/or seizure.
That's our government, leaving loopholes so they can "Cahum", you-know-what-us, up the you-know-where.
