What was the condition of your tip upon arrival? I proxied #57 for a friend who was underwhelmed with the condition of the factory tip. I noticed that the tip was chipped and the tip edge lightly rolled (as if pried with) right out of the cardboard sheath. The chip and roll are easier seen in person than the images below describe. ![[Linked Image from i275.photobucket.com]](http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj281/adamchrista/Knives/Scrap%20Yard/bdle-chip.jpg) ![[Linked Image from i275.photobucket.com]](http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj281/adamchrista/Knives/Scrap%20Yard/bdle-roll.jpg) And yes, that is a spanking new Umnumzaan the BDLE is being compared to <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> ... ![[Linked Image from i275.photobucket.com]](http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj281/adamchrista/Knives/Umnumzaan/um-bdle.jpg)

I'm sure you could send it back to the factory and they'll fix it right up for you. My MPLE had a similar issue(off center tip & plunge line ground wrong),and I contacted Renee about it. They had me send it back in and it is being taken care of. That is the great thing about any Busse-kin knife. Great warranty!

it looks like an uneven grinding job at the tip.
its really easy to do as the tip is probably the most tricky part.mine is the same way at the tip but mine isnt missing its point like yours.
someone with grinding skill could fix that in 5 seconds and you would never know the difference.

I've purchased more Scrapyard knives than I can remember and only two of them have been poorly ground. One was the Mudpuppy and I will be darned if I'm giving that one back......It matches my JYD #, so I won't be parting with it anytime soon....I just touched it up myself and it's good as new.
The second was a Dog father CG It is bent left to right in the middle of the blade about 2 millimeters and it looks like a corkscrew was used as the sharpening guide for the tip......I had initially thought about sending it back, but reflected on the "Dan the Hack" story and decided to work on the problem myself.....couldn't fix the bend in the blade, but I have impressed myself with the job I did on taking the corkscrew out of the tip....got a real nice Competition grind on it now....slices through a bottle of water without knocking the bottom half of the bottle off the table. I also use this one to tame a rather large chunk of ironwood( when I need to relieve stress)
I'm actually glad I got these two knives....they have allowed me to feel more like apart of the family and build skills I never would have thought of trying before.
When you care enough to use only the best...stick'em with a SKYCO knife.
