we went to the carousel museum but it has closed. someone should mention that on their web site
I would also like to go to the columbia gorge discovery center.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. From a Busse availability perspective, I'm blessed. Knob Creek is within a half hour or so of home, and they've had an outstanding Busse selection the last couple shows. It's strange -- the main event is a machine gun shoot that happens continuously right beside the (open walled) shelter house where vendors set up. If you come, bring hearing protection because it's loud. There's a firing line cutting loose with full-auto pistols, sub guns, AKs, ARs, M-60s, M2 heavy machine guns, and even a mini-gun. It's loud and very interesting to watch.

Seemingly out-of-place among tables of Military surplus gear, t-shirts, and flea market wares, Busse sets up several tables to sell high end knives. The shoot draws a crowd where, if they say an Argonne Assault LE is "11-97" some folks think they'll get change back from a $20 bill. However, it also draws the faithful from the surrounding countryside; we know the difference between Busse and Flea Market blades and come to embrace the good steel into our lives.

I went to one of the Indy 1500 shows. It actually had a much wider range of knives to buy, and they had guns for sale (I bought a Stag Arms lefty AR that trip). I don't recall seeing any actual guns for sale at KC (they've got parts and de-milled rifles, but since there's no phone lines/internet connectivity, they can't run authorization checks). Still KC has a much larger Busse presence and it's much closer to me than Indianapolis, so that's where I'll be in less than two weeks.

Hi Scrappy, I think I met you over the weekend. Thanks for mentioning this here forum as I didn't know it was here; I usually just hang out at the Busse forum on BF. I wish there had been some Dogs at the show too, but I did manage to pick up a Ratweiler, my third Rat, in addition to the Busse blades I needed to snatch up. It may be a small show but it's still a lot of fun!

Mike Wood sets up a table with whatever he can get from Bussekin companies at the Indy 1500 -- I think it's 4 times a year. There were several other quality knife booths there as well, but it's primarily a gun show.

As I said, Knob Creek is only about a half hour away from my house (I'm bummed at all the years I missed because I only discovered Bussekin knives last year); Busse typically has a big booth there (staffed with the folks from Wauseon) and it's twice/year (Spring and Fall). They also do the Blade (East) show in Atlanta -- that seems to be THE show of the year. I believe Skunk (Scott) and his wife run the Blade West appearance. I recall hearing about a few other shows with a Busse presence, but out west they're all up north.

mikeymoto, I believe so. you have the gotie right? it was nice to meet you. there were mostly busse models present and I did not know what they were. thanks for the explanation. it was a lot of fun. there were some good blades to pick from. my collection is mostly scrap yard knives which are much cheaper so I had hoped to get more. had there been a scrapyard presence I would have gotten those instead of the sarsquatch. so maybe it is better that scrap yard wasn't there because now i have a fine piece of infi. thanks for being so hospitable.
