Well, after turning my DMDC into a definite user by going after stains and altering the finish on it, as well as taking off a bit of the scrapyard logo, I was wondering why one couldn't use a rollmark (like you see on the sides of firearms) for embossing the logo into the side of the knife, making the logo more permanent. Would it really have any effect on the strength of the knife? Is it that difficult to do? It would make maintaining the finish of the double cut and LE finishes much easier. Just a random thought before I hit the hay.

I'm not familiar with "rollmarking". You mean inset, deeply graven type? How is it done?
My DFCG didn't come with any logo at all, but in the interest of future product improvements, it would be interesting to see the logo impressed into the steel quite a bit.

my "guess" is that it has to do with cost, as in keeping it down.

Just a random thought before I hit the hay. Randall Made Knives has used a deeply stamped logo for decades. I’ve never heard of problems with their knives breaking at the stamp. Of course, Randall hasn’t been in the “price per performance” game for decades, either. They promise top quality for top prices, and get away with it.

Furthermore, I suspect that Randall Made Knives aren't put through the kind of arduous tasks that SYK knives are renowned for holding up against. I'm not sure, but I wouldn't be surprised that such a rollmark would be a serious weak point in a SYK knife when someone is using it as a prybar, for example.
Regardless, I'm not that concerned about making the logo more deeply engrained into the blade. If it wears off, those who know quality blades will still know it for what it is.

I think it shouldn't cost to much, considering you can buy a stripped AR 15 lower for $100, and everyone of them has a rollmark on the side. Of course, it could be that we are using tool steel in these knives, and dies would wear out quick.

But Randalls have been used by US military men in every war since WWII. The model # 1 was made for the war against Hitler and Tojo. The model # 14 was designed in consultation with the Marine Corps to be an “almost indestructible” combat and survival knife. GIs and Marines may not torture test their knives for fun. But they don’t wrap them in kid gloves, either. Prying open crates and cutting through 55 gallon drums was just business as usual because knives were the tools the grunts had at hand.

I don't think rollmarking will create as fine a line as the laser etching that most knife makers use. I haven't seen anything fancy on any of my guns, it's usually just text, not fine lined logos.

So is the logo laser engraved/etched, or stamped on the blade? Thank goodness it is not rollmarked!

its done with a laser i'm pretty sure.
i really think the busse combat, swamprat & scrapyard logos are really cool but i also dig a totally blank sterile blade.it kind of lets the quality and feel speak for itself without having to get into marketing.
i think the days of CG scrapyard knives coming without the logo are gone.i suspect all future scrapyard knives to have the logo on them.
dont know much about rollmarking myself but i do know scrapyard will do whatever makes the knife be all it can be just like if it where in the army and while keeping it all affordable. i have faith in dans knowledge of CG knives and knives in general and it rollmarking was the best way to go he would do it.
