To me the SOD will be allot better. I just think, why would anyone buy a chopper in anything other than a Bussikin family knife . Unless one has all & wants a play toy, which is fare enough. Life is too short for not having what we want . But to compare most other knife companies with any of the Bussikin companies, well, most come up well short.
3 of the best steels, 3 of the best warranties, 3 of the best designs & they all hold there value. Probably more like an investment.
So as far as choppers go, & many other designs for that matter. I think we're standing on the mountain looking down. The big 3, they're pretty special IMO. Scrap Yard, Swamp Rat & Busse. But that's just MO of course

I appeciate Busse kin knives as much as anyone. They are unique. I also appreciate Swiss Army pocket knives and other brands. I would not have done a thread comparing the Bravo-2 to the SOD. Maybe the Hudson Bay. While it has a 1/2" shorter blade, this modified Sarsquatch bowie has a profile more like the SOD than the Bravo-2. Notice the broad blade of the Squatch Bowie compared to the much narrower BRKT. The Bravo is more like a Ka-Bar.

I voted SOD for the height of its blade.

So is there a Scrap Yard knife that would interest you, out5yder? You've pretty much ruled out every knife the company manufactures in SR-77. And heaven only knows when Dan will get around to manufacturing a knife in something other than SR-77 again.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I didn't mean Scrap Yard should make knives from something else.
I'm not a collector, so I buy only what I use. I use basically only one knife. And my goal is to have a knife which is the best possible in all-around performance. At this moment that knife is for me the Skinny ASH-1. I will only buy another knife when I will find another knife better than it in all-around performance. Of course, this "all-around performance" is very subjective and it's correlated with what each individual expects from a knife. Regarding ScrapYard knives I must say the designs of most of them are very close to my needs, closer than Busses. When I saw the design of the SOD I was amazed, because it seems better than all the others. But I can't replace my Skinny ASH with a SOD and there is only room for one knife in my hand. If I would buy it, it will end in my house on a wall and not be used.

I have nothing against SR-77, but there is something that is better for what I need (all-around performance). That is what I wanted to say: that it is not the closest to my needs. Sorry if it seemed bad mouthing. It's not that.

And now, to be on topic,
I think the questions of type "what would you choose between that and that?" are very important to find out what kind of features are more appreciated by different categories of users. The rating is not important for that "what would you choose?", but the arguments. I said my arguments between SOD and Bravo2, if I needed to choose between those two.

Best Regards!

Bear in mind that you are not the only searching for the one and only grail of knives. We all are, to some extent. Plenty of OCD perfectionist types here in the forums, sharp cookies the lot of them are. But try not to fall into the trap of buying knives based off of spec and data sheets. Else you may end up forever living vicariously through the posts and opinions of others. You can only learn to appreciate the nuances of various steels, treatments and finishes through personal experience and understanding. Only then can correlations with published specs be quantified.
