Good afternoon all, I am the new guy around here but I have known about Scrap Yard knives since they first came online. I have yet to own one but that will change with the two SOD's that have been ordered.
Quick question about leather sheaths. Can anyone recommend a maker that is known for the durability of their product. I had a Ka Bar a few years ago with a leather sheath that I enjoyed but the summer weather of Pohang, S.K. was more than it could handle (those of you who have been there know what I mean ). Once the SOD's arrive I will be looking for a leather sheath that I can use while overseas. Thanx.

I have seen his work and it is very nice but will they hold up over the long haul? I am not looking for something that looks great in a safe or might be used on a trail once a year.

Welcome to the yard charger02. What the hell took you so long to buy a Scrap Yard knive? I'm very sure RainWalker's sheaths will last you a life time, enough said.

Thanks Shaolin!!!! I was just waiting for the right knife to come along. The SOD looks like it will fit my needs.

CO2 - Howdy and Welcome to the ScrapYard! You made a great choice with the SOD, and we have several sheathmakers around who do outstanding work. Welcome to the Yard, Charger02. Here's a couple of the other leather sheathmakers besides myself that are on this forum from time to time. I think you'll find that we all try to build the sheaths to be worthy of the Busse Kin blades. Sorry if I left anyone out. http://www.armoralleather.comhttp://www.azraelscustomleather.com

On that note... is there an oil or something of that nature we should use on occasion to clean/oil the leather?
I'm lazy in that regard, usually just wipe with Ballistol then call it a day.

Mink Oil, Neetsfoot Oil, or Saddle Soap are good for reconditioning. There's a few others, but those are the one's I have experience with.

I have beat my Rainwalker sheaths with DAILY service and since they have endured over 700 days wear I can only say they are like brand new. I would look no further than Scrap Yards Master Sheath Maker. www.rainwalkercreations.com And WELCOME to The Yard!!!! Peace.
